that's y the old school 9V is good!! i still love those..have not even gotten those new train sets that come out with remote controls...plus..the tracks are metal...more realistic..
i otoh am glad lego moved away from using metal in most of their parts. metal tend to tarnish or corrode, especially with wear n tear like those used in car wheels.

My old 1970's-80's sets, all the shafts of the wheels are stainless steel, which have since rusted ...

Should be isolated few cases bah. Most of the time it's prolly due to fix wrong pieces in a previous step. For me it's usually this. Never had any missing pieces.

My worse (I hope) is from the small Ninjago 9441 Kai's Blade Cycle which had 6 1x4 red plates missing!

Not sure if getting it from TRU clearance sales had anything to do with it.

Resistant to rust.... Surface rust might occurs if conditions are right

talking about worse, mine was the entire bag of sails (the whole bag, not just 1 sail) missing in Black Pearl.

Have to email Lego and ask for full replacement

Lesson 101 in material science :

Stainless means stain "less", not never stain
