- The other shop is at Aldephi, CD Acoustic at level 3.
- No other place that I know of.
- Should be minor differences to no differences, not too sure.
- Can't remember the sound sig, can't comment
- AudioTrio is the distributor for Audioengine but they recommend buying
from CD Acoustic.
- Definitely has SQ improvement but how much depends on your ear.

Anyway, you can go audit it before buying at CD Acoustic.

Just my 2 cents... :)

Double amping is not recommended since your speaker has an amp already... Get a DAC or sound card would be better...

okay... so is sound card or dac better generally ?

i ll be using it for both gaming/movies and music..

surround sound is not important since AE5 is 2.0

focus is on music tho...

if surround sound is not impt then get a dac but for movies and gaming, a 2.1 would be better though but to each his own

anyone using A5 or A5+ for general TV or movies? How does it perform? Is it ok to use it as it is, without any centre speakers?

A5s rock solid for Movies, owned them for good 4+ years. Music wise, I find them still too "in my face"
A2s good for music in small rooms

Never regret getting them :))

A2's are sold locally for about $340. 3 year warranty.
See audioengine website for distributors. :)

No regrets getting mine.
Excellent sound reproduction for the price. I foresee many years of using these.

I am currently using Xonar D2X and am thinking of getting the A5+.

Considering to get a sub as well but reviews for S8 has not been that good, especially some users claiming that there are better subs for that price point.

I know this is subjective but I am quite a noob on sub, would like some recommendations here.

double amping is not recommended as in, it will be bad / spoil the speakers, or sound quality affected, or just not worth it?
can explain further?

@valkyrie_angel81 Sorry can't help you, I'm not too familar with subs either. But I do know that good musical sub are hard to come by and it's not going to be cheap either.

@noobiee Sorry, can't help you with that problem. For your question I would say go have a try with A2 to see if you like the sound or not. To me it's not a upgrade but a change. Also do know that sound is subjective and hence that it's best to try it yourself.

@unfinished07 "You could overload the second amp. They're designed to accept only a certain amount of input from a source - not the amount of power that comes from another amp. At best, you'll increase distortion. At worst, you could cook off something inside the second amp."
