Which brand is the best HD Media Player in the market?

Hi bros,

I have been seeing alot of threads on HD media players. Would like your votes for the best HD media player in your opinion. I have consolidated 7 brands for the poll.

Cheers.

Ops, 4th item "Astone" suppose to be eGear MiVeo. Anyway ignore the 4th item since i can't edit the poll options.

it's depend on the movie file as well. Your movie at least must have DTS or Dolby Digital audio, then you can have surround played on your HTS. I am using AC Ryan play on HD connected with my yamaha amp with 5.1 speaker. sound is good

From interface, video and sound quality and price. AC Ryan should be best.

Looking at your previous replies, it seems that you work for Himedia.

+1 for AC Ryan,

I like the trial YAMJ release, although its still trial but works well for me.

I choose Aston. Why? Becoz they offer the latest chipset (Same with Playon and HiMedia) at A MUCH LOWER PRICE $$$! Why pay more where u can get the same result. I might save the extra $$$ n use it to buy a better & newer media play when my current set is out dated. I don need any nice GUI. What I need is that the media player can PLAY ALL MY MEDIA FILE. Astone did that at a much lower price then the rest. Fan of AC Ryan and HiMedia don scold me... I juz stating the fact!

Aiyo, sound quality veri much depend on the chipset that the media player use, and lastly the speaker system u going to use. Hi Media, AC Ryan & Astone that using the same chipset produce the same sound quality.

Lastly, do you know that almost all the mainboard of AC Ryan, Hi Media, Astone & others that use the same chipset shared the same referrence design by Realtech! Most even built by the same source. Go n find out more from Google China website, and you will know. Don think you can find that in Google English website.

Maybe I sound too enthusiastic abt the product but I am not related to them in any way except the fact tat i own one.
I like YAMJ too and hopefully himedia can release one of their own soon...

Hmm...all used the same chipset but it is the support and continual development and improvement made to its current product which is more impt.

Yes, some are cheaper than others. But most just sell and forget abt improving it since you will buy just new ones so they will not bother to improve current ones.
Look around esp. their forum and you will know who has the best services and support...not quoting any brand in case i sound like i am working for someone

Well said Zeltos. I do think that AC Ryan and even the latest Himedia models, although good, are asking for a 30-40% more premium. I would think it may boil down to the "brand name" and personal preference. If you think the more 'cool' ui worth that premium, just go and get it. It may not be like Akira vs Sony, but rather Samsung vs Panasonic (look at the LCD TV, Samsung is asking for a 20% more premium than the rest, which are pretty competitive).

DO you mean WD (TV Live ) is in the higher league? If that what you mean, I fully agree.
WD TV Live shld be in the same boat with Xtreamer, Iamm-novatron, Mvix, Sarotech.
Even for Youtube streaming, WD TV LIve win over Xtreamer ( much more expensive).
