obviously the focal xs is better. the puny fullrange driver on Z5500 satellites sounds thin compared to XS. if you're mostly into listening music, just take the XS.

but if you're looking for heavy usage on movies or games, perhaps connecting to set-top box, PS3 or Xbox360, then Z5500 will be more suitable since it has 5 satellites.

i feel that focal bass in on the light side, not boomy enuff for movies but just nice for music. what do u think?

I was in the same situation as you in the end I bought the bose companion 5....use it for diablo 3 very happy wif its performance...

I compared with the focal side by side...for music the focal would be better imo...but my main aim for this sysytem is gaming to the bose was a lot more punchier thus it was my choice...it was also cheaper than the focal too
