All,

Am looking to setup an entertainment room in the house and need some help to optimise the setup. I have jotted down some thoughts here but would love suggestions on how I can improve my setup.

Ideally, here's what I would like my future-proof setup to be:

1. I would like to setup all three of the below as Video sources:
- An Xbox 360
- Singtel Mio TV Box
- Roku (or Viewqwest TV)

2. All three of them would be connected to an HD LCD Projector (Epson 5030 UBe)

3. Wireless Home Theatre Sound system (Bose Cinemate 520)

Questions
1. How do I ensure seemless/easy switching of audio and video between the xbox/mio/roku ? Do I do this via a receiver or some other device ?

2. If given a choice, should I get the wireless projector mentioned above OR get the wired model of the same version (700 USD cheaper) and then run the cables through an L-BOX ?

3. Are there any showrooms in SG which specialise in such setups where I can visit and see some of their setups in person ?

Thanks for your help in advance!!

Cheers

I have a home theatre setup in my living room and I have a wireless projector setup in my bedroom so I can share some of my noob thoughts, there are other way more qualified audiophile folks in this forum that could chime in.

Questions

All my devices connect to (Marantz) amplifiers. I programmed my Harmony Ultimate One to work two rooms. Xbox and Roku shld have their respective codes in the Logitech database. Not sure about Mio. I use starhub and it was ok. Else can physically make the remote learn the *codes* For instance I created a "Watch Bluray" button on the remote - it fires up the amplifier/power amplifier to Bluray connection, turns on the TV to the HDMI channel, turns on the Bluray player ( I have to manually use a separate RF remote to operate my motorised projector screen )

2. If given a choice, should I get the wireless projector mentioned above OR get the wired model of the same version (700 USD cheaper) and then run the cables through an L-BOX ?

If your projector is mounted at the ceiling then I would prefer wireless to avoid running wires across the wall. But your mileage may vary. I didn't notice any problems with reception etc.

3. Are there any showrooms in SG which specialise in such setups where I can visit and see some of their setups in person ?

You can check out Adelphi. I got my projector setup by folks from KEC some yrs back

hi, could you recommend the model number of the Amp you're using and whether you bought the harmony remote locally ?

Follow Up Question

I figured that I can get an AV receiver, have Mio Tv, Xbox and Media player as inputs... TV and a Projector as outputs (assuming dial output on the AV-R)... so that takes care of the video part... but if I plug in a home theatre audio system, then would my day to day tv viewing audio also come out of the home theatre system ? Any way to restrict the usage of the home theatre system only when I feel like using the projector (i.e. for big sports games, movies etc.) ?

I m using an AV7005 and SR7005. Oldies but goodies, but doesn matter really. One connects the TV the other connects the projector. I have two sets of bluray players for each of them, starhub box only connects to the TV setup.

Is your projector and your TV in the same or different room? Why connect a separate HTS system from your AV receiver ?

Yeah TV and Projector in the same room.

I was looking to have a neat setup with one central AVR with 3 inputs and 2 outputs and then controlling everything using a Harmony Universal remote controller.

Been researching on the most efficient way to achieve this given my needs of using TV for day-to-day viewing and Projector + HTS for movie nights and big sports games.

Happy to hear others' views on whether this can be achieved in a cheaper or even more efficient way.
