Thanks for sharing.

I got from Audiohouse online shop at $329-$60=$269 after j4jersey shared that tip.

bought the YAS-106 @ $269 as well. as my 4yrs old yamaha soundbar cannot turn off or control the volume anymore.

Although i don't have the subwoofer anymore, but the inbuilt woofer is good enough for me.

Bought to replace my Philips HTL-5140 which spoilt after 2yrs of infrequent usage. Really lousy.
Bought this as it has the ability to hook up an external woofer. Connected my old Mirage FRx-S10 and whole house is rocking once again.

The built-in woofer is indeed impressive for this size and price point. Yamaha products are quite good. Owned a Yammy AV amp previously.

Just received my yas-106 from audiohouse. Bought it for $269 after $60 off (register to their website and get $60 credit.

Im also a basic who do not need much improvement in the sound so this soundbae pretty much does the job.

I connect the optical cable from soundbar to tv, sound is able to come out while using a tv set-up box.

Just to check, connecting this way, means that you cannot adjust the volume of soundbar using the TV remote control right?

Isn't this more inconvenient?

1 of the reasons I haven't hoot soundbar is that my tv only got 2 hdmi, 1 with arc....

Can consider soundbar with 4XHDMI switch or just get a soundbar with optical input.
Certain TV these days have drop the amount of HDMI available to just two.

Using a HDMI switch have it's pros and cons especially those cheap types.

Intended for small living room or space spaces.
Can consider alternate like ct290.

went down to CEE last friday evening and tested the ct290. very impressed with it. even at 50% volume, it doesn't "cracked"

but I think I might head down to HN mil-walk and test out other brands and more importantly in an enclosed area or room.

Suntec too open spaced

Which TV are you using? If not through 3.5mm jack but not a recommended jack for surround sound.

Wanna ask any major hardware difference for Sony HC TC790 & TC800? Price difference is about $100

How is Yamaha YAS 106, 203 YSP 1600 compared to Sony HC TC390 and 790?

Budget is Less than 1k but lesser the better.. Ü

Looking for a sound bar to play bluetooth music and online streaming video content..

Looking for a sound bar to play bluetooth music and online streaming video content..

Before you confuse yourself with so many different models.
Few factors:

1) How big is your TV?
2) Since you are playing music.
What audio format are your video in?
Dolby Digital?
If Dolby Digital basic soundbar like Sony CT-290/390 will do.
CT790/CT800 (Difference is bump in power), have support
for Dolby TrueHD/DTS-Master Audio commonly found in blu ray disc.
If you are not playing such format CT-290/CT390 will do
since they support Dolby Digital.

3) Count me a Sony user, I have not tested Yamaha soundbar so
that I leave it to Yamaha users.
I am using Sony soundbar, so far so good.
However if you really want a soundbar that does well in music, not
many can do that.

Other than this model, HT-NT5 design for HD music. This one can be out of your budget.

Hope this helps cheers.

I just bought a Sony HT-NT5 to be used with 65X9000E.
Connection wise. Should I connect devices via HDMI to TV and then TV to NT5 via optical? Or is it HDMI Arc?
Devices would be Singtel TV STB, Blu ray, PS4 pro and Apple TV
