Household Shelter (Bomb shelter) requirement for condo
does all new condo need to have Household Shelter (Bomb shelter) ?
I know all HDB has it but is this also a requirement for all new Condos ? |

If you check out the SCDF site, they stated:
"With effect from 1 May 1998, applications for planning permissions for new flats or houses submitted to or lodged with Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) are required to incorporate household or storey shelters." The newer condo usually incorporate storey shelters. That's why most new pte condos and ECs after Esparina does not come with Household Shelter (with the exception of Austville). With most S'pore families staying previously in HDB using Household Shelter as a storeroom, sometimes it does felt a bit weird not having one. Luckily, larger condo units usually have a utility room. So if no maid at home, can still use it as a storage room ![]() |
