Dear friends,
This "ID" or "Contractor" whom we engaged has MIA with our hard-earned money we have given him; a total of ~S$15,000.00.
His name is Lim Geok Hock aka Ben Lim, of Funtabulous Home.

We engaged him through recommendation from a friend. He has renovated fully for her and invited many prospective clients (us included) to her house. It was intended to be a "showroom". We engaged him soon after.
While we have discussed what we want for our house, there has been no proper 3D drawings from him, even after renovation has started on 12 Dec 2017. For four weeks, he has done only S$3k worth of works. Throughout this period, he has gone MIA. Even when he replied he will call, HE WILL NEVER CALL BACK. Phone is either switch off or never pick up.
Carpenter showed up and did some measurements, and Ben Lim gave us crappy hand drawn drawings for our cabinets. Since then, no further discussion about carpentry. Anyone who has done renovation knows there will NEVER be only one discussion for carpentry.
In Jan 2018, we found out he is still an undischarged bankrupt since 2010. And he went for family trip in Dec 17 to South Korea with his wife and daughter (apparently gotten permission to travel).
I finally confronted him on the phone in early Jan and he said he will refund all. Till now, We have not received a single cent from him. We know from contractors he has owed them $ too, and has been looking for new contractors to take on his jobs. Money received from new clients is passed on to pay debts.
We also learnt more than 10 homeowners from different BTOs have engaged him and it turned out to be the same as us. Till now, Incomplete renovation which started months ago, carpentry did wrongly, appliances bought from him never been delivered, etc. No one, including contractors, have receive refund from him.
Police report has been made, and we will be going to small claims. We will consider all possible actions against him.
While we know there is only a fade chance we will ever get back our $, please share this around to identify him and stop him from cheating prospective homeowners.
