my advice dont get samsung. My samung TV the screen crack on its own within 2 years (still within 3 years warranty) and samsung refuse to fix.
They could not even explain how it can be physical damage when the surface have not crack at all and it is obvious the crack is within the glass.
after surfing the internet it seems that many customers have the same problem and they refuse to fix too. at least stay away from samsung products until the negative review comes down - otherwise like me may end up spending twice on expensive tv in 2 years

Thought of getting one for my parents as their old Panasonic plasma is giving problem liao, the tv screen starts to show many many bright colored "lines".

Usage is only connect with Starhub box nia. No need 3d no need very "smart". Only need full hd or UHD..

Many Thanks in advance..

Edit : Short listed 3 55 inch TV

Samsung UA55M5500AKXXS, Panasonic TH55EX400S, Xiaomi 55 inch

These TV are within my budget at ~1k, all i need now is laojiao to advise among the 3, which one is best bang for buck de?

LG and Sony too ex leh, out of budget.

mine is Samsung Curved TV UA55JU7500 LED.
On the internet it seems it is not model related.

i am not sure of that ... i was focused on why mine can crack on its own. ie i was afraid if it may explode like their handphone.i have 3 very young kids

i provided this link to samsung for them to be aware of their customers feedback. But still they maintained they will not fix it FOC even if it is under warranty.
From the feedback if it is real i think samsung service sucks. you may want to look at this link and do more surfing
cnet.com/forums/discussions/internal-crack-in-brand-new-samsung-curved-4k-tv/

I am going to CASE singapore next week to explore options

I think hard for your case as it is hard to rule out that you or your family members has not accidentally break the screen especially when u have small kid. May be your little kid hid the Tv with a toy or something like that. For warranty must be no physical damage then can claim warranty because it cover only manufacturer fault and tbe Tv does not come with a broken screen during day 1 when it came out of the box. Why after two years then it can suddenly cracked? If it is something wrong with the Tv it would have happen long ago so it is hard to make sense.
