Recommendation for > 46" TV w $1k budget

There's a Sharp and a Philips on sale at Courts in the papers today. Models unknown. Both 50".

Looking for a basic tv w the 1k or slightly more budget. No wan plasma, no need 3d smart good to have. Impt is PQ good. Any recommendation on model? Not considering Philips.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I have the same question and requirements as TS, one year on. What's the best deal currently? Saw a Sharp 46" at lazada going for 699 - 100... Model is LC46LE450M

Saw a toshiba 47" selling at $699 today at causeway point woodlands. Few sets left..

Toshiba L5450 is built on android platform.. so like any android devices could experience occasionally hiccup and need a reboot.. Unlike my old dumb tv which is rock stable..

good point, didnt think of that! will continue to look for a normal dumb TV
