Lightbulb Suggest how HTC can improve their marketing strategy

Hi HTC users,

Let's have a constructive suggestion, on how HTC can improve their marketing strategy.

Let me begin:

I realised the official announcement of HTC 10 By Mr Chang's video, he did not announce

- the phone support external memory card, for memory expansion

- NFC connectivity

- Able to stream Apple Airplay

- capabilities of the CPU & graphic card

- Vanilla Android apps

- capabilities of the camera, with larger sensor...what it can do

-------------------------------------------------

Maybe:

They can introduce Liquid Cooling System, which Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge has it

Totally revamp their official video on new smartphones. the A9 official video doesn't really introduce the phone much, it only mentioned the phone metal body, high resolution audio, Andriod Marshmallow. Worst of all, the guy keep running all over the place.

The concentration should be promoting the phone capabilities.

Video below:

Maybe they can learn from Samsung's S7 TVC that's appearing on our TVs nowadays, the ad shows the features that will entice people with creative methods.

Another thing will be interacting with fans on social medias like Facebook, Instagram. Xiaomi has proven that social media interaction could better spread the word on their new products and also keep their marketing costs low too.

HTC seriously may consider doing something similar with Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge official video.

The video really reveal the phone capabilities.

It also reveal how the phone can be useful in your daily life too

For the social media interactions, I did feedback that to them. They said they will be looking into it.

In my opinion, the quietly brilliant tagline was actually very good (not sure why they ditched that). They really need to show their phone's practicality (undeniably S7's advertisement is really good). Not only that, they should try to sponsor some shows (I understand they don't have a lot of money at the moment). Just look at Descendants of the Sun, every character in the show is using a Samsung phone, demonstrating its camera, the Samsung pay capability. They can reach out to a really really big viewership as a result. Of course, korean shows will have korean companies sponsorship, but perhaps they should try to do something for US shows? (idk just a suggestion). Product placement has been seen to be important, seeing how Singaporeans quickly went to buy Laneige (idk how to spell that) lipsticks after Song Hye Kyo was using that in the show or something and Laneige sales in Singapore spiked 17% or something in that lipstick. Furthermore, people who are using Viu to watch Descendants of the Sun has to watch S7 commercial twice in one episode. I am pretty sure even a person who don't have a Samsung will know about this phone and its capabilities.

Another thing, perhaps they can start putting up some big banners in malls or something. Once again, referring to Samsung, on the MRT train, going past Jurong East, you see their gigantic Samsung store there with a picture of the S7. Go into West Gate, you see a gigantic banner of the S7. Samsung is doing a really good job at their advertisement, and perhaps thats why, in Singapore, you see everyone practically using either a Samsung or Apple.

Lastly, I am not sure again if it was due to a lack of funds, but their service used to be impeccable. Their Harbourfront service centre was well designed. It looked really creative and beautiful in a way, albeit small. After they moved to TripleOne@Somerset, the service centre look more like the mortuary or something. Furthermore, they removed their pickup and send back service. In my opinion, they should keep this so that they can market a good after-sales service. Afterall, people usually buy their phones for their after-sales service right? Once they experience some bad service, they usually do not want to purchase a phone from that brand anymore. HTC should capitalise on this as a speciality, as I am sure no other brands in Singapore is currently offering that wonderful service.

^long af message. tl;dr: have more product placement in shows and apps. Advertise more and not just on some random Comfort taxis. Bring back the service they once had before in the past while their service centre was at Harbourfront.

My message to HTC is to get back to basics. Make this brand that one C.R.A.V.E.S.

C - Credibility
Deliver what you promise, promise what you'll deliver.

R - Reliability
Always make a product that works beautifully. Making a good & reliable product must be an obsession. This is a tech market! A good product is half battle won. Making HTC 10 is in the right direction.

A - Affordability
Don't overprice. You are not selling luxury status.

V - Visibility
Needs no explanation. Distribution, merchadising, display, social media presence.

E - Efficacy
Be productive, spend wisely, focus on the right things. Don't fight a war you cannot win. Forget No.1 & 2 position or any. No need to pay Iron-man for endorsement. With a good product, your fans are your ambassadors, positive word of mouth. Business will come.

S - Sincerity
Nothing irks more than an insincere organisation. Acknowledge a problem if there's one & solve it, engage your customers. Don't keep silent. Communicate, don't neglect. Ensure quality service & after-sales service too.

End of the day, the business objective must start with the customer, end with the customer. Nothing is impossible when you have the right attitude.

Do it well, Hard To Convince will become
Have Total Confidence!

Reshuffle the marketing staff, the current ones are destroying the company.

Summary on improving marketing strategy

- always promote the phone capabilities

- reveal everything, there's nothing to hide

- when making official video, do one that is similar to Samsung S7

- introduce new innovation, technologies

- create a own customised user interface, which will be very user friendly to phone users

- if possible, design a new phone which is battery user-replaceable

- may introduce liquid cooling system

- do not design the phone too thin, it's will have difficulty holding the phone

Employing a good HTC salesperson & sales promoter also affects the company sales revenue.

The sales promoter in a mobile retail shop selling the phone is very important too.

If they know how to promote the product, phone user will buy it.

Sales promoter must also knows how to answer tough questions too.

All in all, the product says everything, just need good promoters to convince people to buy, that's all to it

Actually, if they bring their Uh-Oh protection over to more countries, It would be even better.

But knowing Singaporeans, it will probably be abused, just like how Apple's was. Lol.
