ASUS RT-AC88U is part of the ASUS new ROG Unleashed.

San Francisco, CA (October 9, 2015) – ASUS today reinvigorates PC gaming at the ROG Unleashed event in San Francisco that celebrates nearly a decade of ROG innovations. Launched officially in 2006, ASUS ROG is the world’s leading brand for innovative PC gaming hardware that delivers the ultimate computing experience for gamers and enthusiasts.

ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih debuts a new arsenal of Republic of Gamers hardware that showcases its unrivaled engineering talent with several new products, including the liquid-cooled GX700 and all-new G752 notebooks, ROG Swift PG279Q and PG27AQ monitors, Maximus VIII series motherboards, G20CB desktop, and RT-AC88U router.

“In the last decade, our dedication to superior design and engineering has allowed us to empower gamers with the most innovative products,” said Mr. Shih. “Over the next decade and those to come, we will continue this mission and push ROG forward with even more epic innovations designed for gaming domination.”

ROG systems and components are designed and engineered to the highest standards along with thorough feedback from the community of ROG fans and users. In addition to hosting the ROG Unleashed press conference, ASUS invited loyal fans to celebrate nearly a decade of ROG engineering excellence with early access to the latest systems and components before it goes on sale.

Was thinking to change to AC3200. Should I wait for this instead?

Sent from my mobile phone using GAGT
You will be better off with the ASUS RT-AC88U if you are one of the few that utilizes more than 4x GbE ports.

Even the announced ASUS AC5300 isn't the ASUS next flagship router.

Some of the things I'm allow to mention are ~

ASUS RT-AC88U

1). 8x GbE ports
2). 512MB RAM
3). WTFast client

ASUS AC5300

1). 4x GbE ports
2). 256MB RAM
3). No WTFast client

There are other differences that I can't reveal at the moment, do bear in mind, it's may subject to changes.

Just wait until nearing the ASUS RT-AC88 product launch date for more information.

Is this router better than the RT-AC5300? Does this router comes with Smart Connect or similar feature? I have many wireless devices at home and I need a smart router to automatically connect to each and every device by dynamic assigning the correct radio to each.

It's up to one's preference and needs.

ASUS RT-AC88U is not a tri-band router, whereas AC5300 is.

In this case, you are better off with the AC5300 if you wanted the Smart Connect Feature. ASUS RT-AC88U doesn't come with Smart Connect Feature.

NETGEAR Nighthawk X8 - AC5300 Tri-Band Quad-Stream Wi-Fi Router (R8500) also cost more than half K too

MSRP ~> USD$399.99 @ Amazon

Interestingly, the Asus official site does list Smart Connect as one of the features.

Re

So no more 5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2 ah? All lump into just 5GHz?

Like that which is better? The ASUS AC5300 or this? If the RT-AC88U would to have tri-band (later) then it'll definitely be better than the AC5300 ah?

There isn't 5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2 on the ASUS RT-AC88U lah, only AC5300 has it.

Like i have said before, if you die die wanted smart connect feature, you have to get the AC5300.

Will the AC88U (AC3100) be faster than the AC5300 besides having more LAN ports?

Or is it the AC5300 has a higher bandwidth capacity over the AC88U besides having the same number of antennas as the AC88U?

So which meets my needs if I've many wireless devices at home considering the actual fact that maybe 3100Mbps will be suffice for my need since both also have Smart Connect?
