I recently faced a sudden slowed down of of wifi speed, a new firmware update got it back to its normal speed, not sure if its the fw that helped solve or a reset of the fw has helped, no harm trying

Although the router is old, it has received numerous firmware updates - try updating it first.

I'm still using the N56U and AC56U in the house; works perfectly fine.

Nothing to do with broadband provider, unless of course your service isn't yet running on the updated broadband speed.

But do u intended to keep downloading huge files or would require super high speed for your application or others such? If not it's fine just that u will be limited max 300mbps theory. Real world will not get that high.

Your notebook is AC wifi? If yes you can get AC1200G+ at just $5/mth.
