good thing about black is that you can cover the flaws with black marker. tested and it works.

Same problem for me. All around the speaker holes. I'm pretty confident I can get it replaced just like the aluminium micro-pitting issue with my previous rose gold 6s Plus. You can't go down to service centre, they will deem it as cosmetic damage and ask you to F off. You'll need to call Apple directly and email them images of your phone and insist this can't be user fault and it's manufacturing defect and ask for an exception to get it replaced.

But being quite a perfectionist I can't live with the fact that my phone has a manufacturing defect. No matter how well a black marker will mask it up.

If you see TS post about the Reddit thread, one guy posted about the 6s having the same issue on macrumors forum, that's my thread. LOL

I saw your post on MacRumors last year regarding the 6s paint chipping. It happened to your 7 as well? Care to share some photos?

I did just that and Apple got it sorted out for me. As shared by fellow forumer, alleggerita, A.Labs just casually classified it as cosmetic damage.

Anyone else having the same problem can do as what alleggerita had suggested.

Hi bro, care to share how exactly did you communicate with Apple over the phone? Want to see if it's the similar way I got my 6s Plus replacement.

Alternatively, fellow buddies here with this issue can wait till the official Apple Store in Singapore opens and head there to "make noise" if spending 30 mins over the phone with a consultant is not your cup of tea.

I have the same problem, though not to the extent of TS. Happened when I took my phone and gave it a gentle wipe. Hopefully I can get it changed.

I have a iPhone 7 mate black black paint peeling near the right speaker without dropping or scratching it. This is definitely a manufacturing defect and not an isolated case. I hope more people can voice out so apple can provide a 1-1 exchange or recall.

Same thing happened on my JB iPhone 7 Plus. Called Apple and they told me to go down to service center to verify when I requested for ERS. So I went down to QCD today and they deemed it as cosmetic defect.

Called Apple after that and they offered a one time exception and settled on the spot for me.

The paint peeling issue on the slate iPhone 5 is indeed a concern to begin with and if the matte black 7 plus also suffers similar fate, then it's a really dumb mistake Apple made again.

As for the jet black, tiny hairline scratches are inevitable but we shouldn't be too anal about it. I got my jet black 7 plus two days back and immediately brought it to Nubox to have my TG screen protector slapped on and went home to place it in my casing which I purchased earlier that day. I never thought of getting a rear screen protector for it since I have the case.

Coming back to the paint peeling issue, Apple should address this issue if it's affecting a majority of matte black models, else might just be an isolated one.
