Uji - Tea

Any exclusive or hard-to-find tea at Uji, not commonly found in retail outlets in other cities. Am thinking of doing a day trip to Uji from Osaka in Dec. Thanks.

But i like Itohkyuemon in Uji. Another brand i love is Ippodo near Nijo Castle in Kyoto

Thanks for the recommendation. Will try.

Yes, Ippodo is pretty commonly available. Many dept stores. I have been to both their stores in Kyoto and Tokyo.

Yeah. I always go to their main branch. But more for their parfait, matcha cookie, snacks etc rather than tea.

Their tea not as good as ippodo. very little selection. Ippodo just on Gyokuro got so many 8 different level. Tenkaichi is really good..

I think Ippodo got the best tea already. Many Kaiseki places also use their tea. If you want, u should try their higher grade range.

Which would be considered a higher grade range?
Indeed, price-wise, their tea is at quite a high premium relative to other brands.

Their Gyokuro Tenkaichi
I find gyokuro a bit bitter. Probably my unrefined taste bud. That is already with the less strong range. Haven't tried tenkaichi before. 天下一 impressive name
