Pros & Cons of using HDTV or dedicated computer monitor as computer screen
Hi all,
I am trying to upgrade my monitor and looking at the price point of some of the 27" screen, it seems like a 32" HDTV might be cheaper. Just not sure what are the difference in term of usage? will be tv be bad for the eyes compare to normal monitor?

Well , I am using an AKIRA 32" TV as a monitor via HDMI. The only con is frequently the signal is lost during startup and I need to press the reset button for it to display on the TV. Had change the HDMI cable so it is the issue of the tv or my ATI 6870 graphic.

Main thing is the resolution.
1920×1080 for 32" may be too low for work. Too grainy if u sit right in front, yet not suitable for text if you sit too far away. |

it depends on the distance
i am using a LG32" LED TV for Monitor and it looks ok to me. table dont have so much space and for PS3 / Comp this is the best solution. |

Distance is the biggest issue. The monitor / screen must be x distance from you to fit the screen within your field of vision to minimise excessive head turning.
It's also worth noting the 27" LCD are more likely (not always) to use IPS panels so the colour reproduction will be significantly better than HDTV (more vibrant is a start). I'm using a HDTV for my monitor and I don't have any issues personally since I wanted a All in One and I had limited space. |

Using samsung series 4 and 26 inch led tv as PC monitor.. Can surf net and watch TV concurrently using Picture-In-Picture mode..
Somehow LED TV is brighter than LED Monitor.. Using EcoSolution to reduce brightness so as not to strain and hurt the eyes.. Distance is really important.. so that you can fit the screen well.. |
