Big thanks to Geforce 3 and Kopitian for their recommendations too. There is nothing like discovering gems that have been forgotten.

I have nothing against pop, in fact I love it. But I feel that it is a waste that such great songs are forgotten just because pop is more popular. As a former radio producer, my job was to recommend such artists to a wider range of audience. Even though I have lost the job, I continue to do so (esp in my facebook page). That's because I'm a true music lover.

i am willing to listen to anything, but there are times when pop is just something you don't want to listen.

Like you want to nua and laze around, pop in some jazz (not pop jazz) tracks/vinyl, let you song song gao jurong

This is actually pop, but Edith Piaf is really really a very good singer

YES!!! A FELLOW FAN OF PIAF!!! I watched the show where Marion Cotillard acted as her. Omfg best performance ever. I personally love Hymn A L'mour and Padam Padam.

I'm not sure how many here has listen to real traditional tango music played in the 40s, and still played now in argentina.

Here's one of the best:

hit on the 1st song under lyrics (by Orquesta Carlos Di Sarli, singer Roberto Rufino),

and here's one of the many ways this song is been intepreted:
