Can consider toshiba chromebook from amazon.

bought mine a few months ago for USD $279. now got newer model
1080p screen, 10h battery life

If you install linux, u can also run windows programs using playonlinux/Wine

This is a good idea... does linux work well on ur chromebook?

Well chromeOS is linux.

2 way to run ubuntu. either by crouton, where you run ubuntu within chromeos or by chrubuntu where you dual boot.

Either way you get same performance, but crouton is easier to install and is better supported. For chrubuntu some things may not work like sound, and you need to figure out yourself.

Most new chromebooks have haswel and can install windows

Some android apps (like hearthstone or minecraf) also can run on Chrome browser by using arc welder. u can try for yourself on your windows chrome

$500+ is very exp for a Bay Trail based model. $599 can already get full fledge Core i3...

You should have bought from Qoo10 similar laptop but 300 + only
If you add in 256GB SSD around 150 total 400+ only
Bay Trail is not worth 500 + trust me
