I open this thread in response to this thread:
Asus K43SV Do you really bought a totally "new set" from Sim Lim? Cos some shops might sell you their display set, well i could be wrong. Using factory recovery is to repair windows or windows unable to boot but not system slow. System slow u have to clean up bloatwares (useless program that was preloaded), update windows, update system drivers and defrag the hard disk or do virus scan. New laptop comes with lots of bloatwares which might affect the overall system performance. So I would advice after u get ur new laptop clean up bloatwares (useless program that was preloaded), update windows and update system drivers. Laptop hard disk are preloaded with factory images and I don't think these images are up to date so it's up to user to do the updating. Ok let's start off by first uninstalled bloatwares found commonly in Asus laptops/netbooks. |

Part 1 Remove junk programs
[Note: Typical software loaded should be like the below. I use the image from that thread instead of my own Asus laptop. Most of these software can be redownload) ![]() ![]() The following list I spend lots of hours testing these software. 1) Uninstalled Adobe Flash Player than install latest version. Why? For best performance, try not to have newer and older version of the software. 2) Asus AI Recovery - System recovery creation Leave it if u're not tech savy as this software is to create recovery CD. Recovery of system can be done either by pressing recovery key at BIOS or using this CD. If u know how to troubleshoot I would suggest removing this useless program. 3) Asus Fancystart - Software to modify your BIOS screen with images but low resolution. Uninstalled it if u don't intend to modify your BIOS screen 4) Asus K3 screen saver - Screen saver for your Asus laptop, leave it if u prefer Asus screen saver. If u have other screen screen saver or prefer to use windows screen saver uninstall this. (Note This software have one startup entry if u uninstall this u will remove the startup entry.) 5) Asus lifeframe3 - Webcam ulitiy to take picture of u. Useless program as most people will either use MSN or skype to take a picture of urself and send to people. Uninstall it if u don't take a picture of u using the webcam. 6) Asus liveupdate - Useless program, if there's new update especialy for drivers it won't show up. Uninstall it, if u need latest update on latest drivers especially from Asus I will create a list in another thread. 7) Asus smartlogon - This software use facial recongition logon, if u don't use this uninstalled it. 8) Asus splendid video enhancement technology - this one really depends on individual as this software have different screen color profile. If u're not a photography or someone who finds the screen color not satisfied than use it. Otherwise uninstalled it. 9) Asus webstorage and Asus Vibe 2.0 - Uninstalled them, who uses Asus cloud storage? 10) Bing bar - uninstall if u don't use it 11) Unsinstall all control active x de windows live mesh - is there a need for this? 12) Cybelink labelprint - print for CD/DVD using CD/DVD writer. Leave it unless u don't use it or have other labelprint software than uninstalled 13) Cyberlink Power2go - DVD burner leave it unless u don't use it or have other labelprint software than uninstalled 14) Fast boot - Uninstall this useless program, what it does it either disable or delay certain startup programs. There's more efficient way of improving boot up times. 15) Google Chrome - Uninstalled and reinstalled latest version. Why? One thing I hate about Google Chrome is it's constant update. Perform a clean installation once there's a new complete build. Like say from 13 -14x 16) Google toolbar - uninstalled if u don't use it 17) Uninstall Windows live mesh active X control than uninstall Windlows live essential 2011. After uninstall, reinstall Windows live essential if u need to use MSN. 18) Uninstalled winflash - this program is for BIOS flashing. I strongly do not recommend using this for flashing as there's known issue that BIOS might not flash properly. Optional: Asus Power4gear hybrid - This one really depends on the hardware for your laptop and personal perference. For me I uninstalled this program as I find it too troublesome. I prefer using Windows power profile which much user friendly and my battery somewhat last longer than using that program. Last edited by techidiot; 19-10-2011 at 11:08 AM.. |

Part 2
Driver optimizing For Intel laptop: 1) Check whether Intel Rapid Storage Technology Version is version 10.6.0.1022. If it's not than uninstall this and install the latest version. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...=2101&lang=eng This is to improve bootup time and program startup time as it improve data access to hard disk. 2) Intel Chipset driver update by Asus: Version:9.2.0.1030 (Update all Intel system driver) http://support.asus.com/download.asp...hashedid=n%2fa 3) Uninstalled all Nvidia components Nvidia 3D vision Driver/Graphic Driver and HD audio driver than install the latest version Nvidia Geforce Driver by Asus (Version V8.17.12.6883) http://support.asus.com/download.asp...bUlWD2rCnnpSNO Why for Nvidia/AMD/Ati graphics driver there's only one setup component so in the future if u need to troubleshoot or uninstalled it would be easier than uninstall one by one 5) Uninstalled Realtek Audio Driver than installed latest version by Asus (Look for version 6.0.1.6454) http://support.asus.com/download.asp...bUlWD2rCnnpSNO Optional: Lan or wireless I will post them later. |
