recovery partition?

if not..

grab a OEM windows cd and use the cdkey provided by your notebook to perform the task.

If you intend to clean install,

One tool that you can google is "ABR"

It helps to backup the cd-key and OEM activation details. Then after clean installation, you can use it to restore the same back. No activation needed.

For windows installation media, you can use either retail/OEM CD, just edit the "ei.cfg" file.

but if you want to restore to factory default, then alt-F10 to boot into recovery partition, if you didnt delete it off or damage it.

It basically deletes the C: partition and restore the factory default image over it.
