hi aigomp4,

i can't be sure if its a first hand set. however when i purchase it, they went in their store and took the whole box out and open in front of me.

it is not entirely that slow, i just feel it should perform alot better based on the spec especially a new comp, i know i shouldn't be comparing it against a desktop but my desktop is really "faceout" spec as mentioned in my first post.

for example: when i play league of legend, at the loading page when everyone else is 100% and i am still sitting at 40% or so.

my connection is starhub fibre optic 50mbps, actually i feel most likely is like what techidiot said, too much program running or some program that will lag the comp. ie, some anti-virus program

so far i only install adobe player 11, window live ess, skype, garena (league of legend) , itunes and the system drivers techidiot proposed.

the rest of the files are all there when i purchased.

if i were to do a factory recovery, by right all the applications/programs will still be there less those above i installed right?

If you do a factory recovery, it should bring you to original factory condition. As to whichever software are suppose to be by factory default, I can't be sure. Cos each brand might bundle different software application. The most I can tell you is whatever software you had installed into it will not be in once you do recovery.

You might want to give asus techsupport a call to further recify your problems before you doing recovery.

Lastly Save all your useful data before doing factory recovery.

thanks for your valuable inputs, i will take note of that.

i am waiting for techidiot to further advice me on removing some of the useless programs/applications as well as which program to disable on startup.

all along, i've been asking my friend to help me customize and setup desktop and i'll just replace the same component whenever they die off. thus, i am really a novice when it comes to computers

Do you really bought a totally "new set" from Sim Lim? Cos some shops might sell you their display set, well i could be wrong.

Is the slow happen when you 1st use it or only experience slow after you install several program into it?
If the 1st case, send it to asus service centre for rectification. If is the 2nd case, you might want to trial and error by uninstalling those software you had installed one by one and find out which one cause the issue.

Another direct method, use magic button, do factory recovery to recover your system to original condition.
FYI, when I get my Asus laptop it's very slow.
System recovery does not help to speed the system
up but to fix blue screen or any windows error.
I did a full format instead of removing junk software
that Asus preloaded onto the laptop.

Cuz if u c that there's way too many junk software
and I'm going to slowly provide guide on how
to optimized this laptop performance so do be patient.

After my guide is done, I wil post it in another thread
for others to c.

Part 1 Remove junk programs

After uninstalled Adobe flash player and resinstall newer version.
Let's continue to remove junk programs, do take note if
I say what this program does if u need this software than leave it.
Most of the software should be able to redownload.
Before uninstalling at MSconfig, enabled all startup items.
As when u remove certain software, the startup entry will
also be clear.

The following list I spend lots of hours testing these software.

1) Asus AI Recovery - System recovery creation Leave it
if u're not tech savy as this software is to create recovery CD.
Recovery of system can be done either by pressing recovery
key at BIOS or using this CD.
If u know how to troubleshoot I would suggest removing this
useless program.

2) Asus Fancystart - Software to modify your BIOS screen
with images but low resolution. Uninstalled it if u don't intend
to modify your BIOS screen

3) Asus K3 screen saver - Screen saver for your Asus laptop,
leave it if u prefer Asus screen saver. If u have other screen
screen saver or prefer to use windows screen saver uninstall this.
(Note This software have one startup entry if u uninstall this
u will remove the startup entry.)

4) Asus lifeframe3 - Webcam ulitiy to take picture of u. Useless
program as most people will either use MSN or skype to take a
picture of urself and send to people. Uninstall it if u don't
take a picture of u using the webcam.

5) Asus liveupdate - Useless program, if there's new update
especialy for drivers it won't show up. Uninstall it, if u need
latest update on latest drivers especially from Asus I will create
a list in another thread.

6) Asus smartlogon - This software use
facial recongition logon, if u don't use this uninstalled it.

7) Asus splendid video enhancement technology - this one really depends on individual as this software have different screen color profile.
If u're not a photography or someone who finds the screen color not satisfied than use it.
Otherwise uninstalled it.

8) Asus webstorage and Asus Vibe 2.0 - Uninstalled them, who uses Asus cloud storage?

9) Bing bar - uninstall if u don't use it

10) Unsinstall all control active x de windows live mesh - is there a need
for this?

11) Cybelink labelprint - print for CD/DVD using CD/DVD writer. Leave it
unless u don't use it or have other labelprint software
than uninstalled

12) Cyberlink Power2go - DVD burner leave it unless u don't use it or have other labelprint software than uninstalled

13) Fast boot - Uninstall this useless program, what it does it either disable or delay certain startup programs. There's more efficient way of improving boot up times.

14) Google Chrome - Uninstalled and reinstalled latest version. Why?
One thing I hate about Google Chrome is it's constant update.
Perform a clean installation once there's a new complete build.
Like say from 13 -14x

15) Google toolbar - uninstalled if u don't use it

16) Uninstall Windows live mesh active X control than uninstall Windlows live essential 2011. After uninstall, reinstall Windows live essential if u need to use MSN.

17) Uninstalled winflash - this program is for BIOS flashing. I strongly
do not recommend using this for flashing as there's known issue that BIOS might not flash properly.

Part 2

Driver optimizing

1) Check whether Intel Rapid Storage Technology Version is version 10.6.0.1022. If it's not than uninstall this and install the latest version.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...=2101&lang=eng

This is to improve bootup time and program startup time as it
improve data access to hard disk.

2) Intel Chipset driver update by Asus:
Version:9.2.0.1030
(Update all Intel system driver)

http://support.asus.com/download.asp...hashedid=n%2fa

3) Uninstalled all Nvidia components Nvidia 3D vision Driver/Graphic Driver and HD audio driver than install the latest version Nvidia Geforce Driver by Asus (Version V8.17.12.6883)

http://support.asus.com/download.asp...bUlWD2rCnnpSNO

Why for Nvidia/AMD/Ati graphics driver there's only one setup component
so in the future if u need to troubleshoot or uninstalled it would be easier
than uninstall one by one

5) Uninstalled Realtek Audio Driver than installed latest version by Asus
(Look for version 6.0.1.6454)

http://support.asus.com/download.asp...bUlWD2rCnnpSNO

Optional: Lan or wireless if u need I will last them.

Still so many? Like Chinese saying:
"打不死"
Installed Ccleaner and use it to clean startup items. (After
u installed ccleaner go to tools - startup

http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER

Remove the following:
  1. Asus webstorage
  2. Windows live messenger (If u need it to run during startup than leave it. To remove it launch MSN live messenger, go to options - tools - uncheck "Start MSN when I log in"
  3. Skype - (If u need it to run during startup than leave it. To remove it launch skype, go to options uncheck start skype when windows start)
  4. Quicktime
  5. Itunes (Don't worry about removing this, having this item will slow down ur system so best to remove it.)
These are startup items are programs, programs will tend to slow
down the system.
How safe to remove Cyberlink components I'm not sure so leave it.
After u remove and do the system update. Does the system run more faster?

Hi guys...

I am looking at the ASUS K43S which comes with:

- USB 3.0 instead of 2.0
- GT540M 2GB instead of 1GB

It can be i5 or i7 but most importantly, the store should preferably have the option for me to purchase it thru credit card 0% installment plan.

I just looked at Harvey Norman and they don't seem to have stock for such a model. They do have the K43S i7 USB 3.0 but with GT520 though.

Weird, thought I saw over at the main thread that it is available in Singapore.

Thanks for the help in advanced guys!
