Hi all,

Looking for opinions on this ultrabook.
Saw a deal of it selling @1299 with 2 years walk in warranty.
13.3 ips fhd anti glare display
i5-7200u
8gb ddr4 ram
512 pcie ssd

Any existing users care to comment? Just gonna use it for portable ms office work and watching youtube in between work. Long battery life is a must as I'd like not to have to bring the charger along.

How is lenovo build? i'm not very updated in non gaming notebook...

Enough and more than sufficient for your needs. There are cheaper alternatives for specs though. You are mostly paying for the PCIE SSD. Is there a dedicated graphics card?

No dedicated gpu. Any cheap recommendation? Light weight and long battery life most impt. Really no need pcie ssd but a sata ssd good enough.

:s13: Surface 3,
Surface Pro 4, m3 128gb (but no keyboard, pen )

There is really a lot of models to choose from. Very light weight an exceptional battery? - LG gram.

Reliability is hard to tell.
Hence I wouldn’t recommend.
Would say from my usage that Dell is pretty reliable.

Asus is a hit or miss depending on who you ask.
Believe that a couple of years back, there was a dip in QC - hinge defects, sluggish performance.

Lenovo has improved greatly from their materials used. Yesteryear ideapads were plasticky. Now it’s aluminium unibodied.

From what u saying that lenovo have made that quality feels like thinkpad standard or they are just slightly better than previous build?

Agreed on LG gram and MS surface laptop. Which are the most compatible to your needs.

Hmm,

Comparing the most recent ideapad previous generations of ideapads (specifically taking 2014-15) generations- there is an improvement in materials used and build quality. That said, it’s hard to test internals - the brains of the machine - hence feedback from users here are really appreciated

Hard to compare thinkpads with ideapads as well since it is a totally different consumer segment. :)

Cheapest surface pro 4 is about 1.1 /1.2 for the core m3 variant.

The gram is you the price to pay for extreme lightness of your laptop and of your wallet after paying for it :s13:

Lg gram and ms surface are more expensive, no?

I think i'd rather get this ideapad 710s. Carousell got 1 seller specialise in selling Lenovo, selling same specs for 949 but only 6 months warranty compared to paying $1299 for 2 yrs warranty.

I was offered this @1299 as well. But it is the 710 yoga, 14 FHD IPS touch. Same specs with Nvidia Geforce GT940MX 2 Gb.

Should be a good deal?

Not sure if i should be getting the yoga but with everything using touch screen nowadays it should be an additional advantage?

I saw a newer 310s using i5 8250. Same nice screen but weigh little more. 256 ssd instead of pcie 512 but price is $1199. Seems a better buy but maybe going for i7 version. Everything same but has mx150 gpu and price is $1288.

I've been using a 710s i7 for a year, connected via a Toshiba Dynadock to two 24" monitors when I'm working.

I only have one issue from with it.....my touchpad can't Right Click despite the fact I can't see any setting mistakes. Been a problem for half the time already so make sure I carry a wireless mouse anytime I travel. Until something is gone, no idea how often you need it and it's not a touchscreen so...... I have no idea.

Battery last quite good, and it's much lighter than my old laptop but I think can get even lighter now without looking at the LG.
