I want to buy new laptop without any Operating System and I will install Ubuntu 12.04 myself. Typically when we buy laptop we are paying for Microsoft License. If we buy without OS then the price will be cheaper.
Do you know anyone sells laptop without OS? Thank you ![]() |

Locally, it'd be hard to obtain these models unless you search online for other retailers

No. The laptop manufacturers normally have contracts with OS providers to provide them at a cheap price in bulk. You can request the laptop without MS license, but the price remains the same.

Dell is the only vendor offering pre-installed Ubuntu:
Vostro Laptops / Notebooks | Dell Singapore Check with them whether it is offered in Singapore |

Try looking at the notebook computers in Malaysia. They have some models from each brand without OS (aka FreeDOS). I am using one which I bought from Kuala Lumpur 2 years ago.

No. The laptop manufacturers normally have contracts with OS providers to provide them at a cheap price in bulk. You can request the laptop without MS license, but the price remains the same. The exception is for the small laptop manufactures, they have to include the separate OS system inside the package and every laptop has the different OS license key (if they sell it in Singapore). Recently, I bought the Prolink TW8, the pre installed WINDOWS OS is not activated. But inside the box, there is one sealed licenced WINDOWS 7 OEM package, you can opt not to use it. Prolink do sell laptop as well. |
