AC Ryan

Get ready for some multimedia streaming action at AC Ryan's booth, located at level 6, right at the back.

First item on the list – the AC Ryan PlayOn!HD2, which comes with a HDMI cable, Wi-Fi draft 'N' dongle and a 2TB HDD for $379.

We also spotted the AC Ryan PlayOn!HD Essential, with a similar package to its more advanced sibling, but comes with a smaller 1.5TB HDD. Priced at $269, the PlayOn!HD Essential supports a wide variety of multimedia file formats, and comes with an SD card slot to plug and play your movies.

If you're on a tighter budget, the PlayOn!HD2 Mini is priced at a more affordable $189 and turns attached storage devices into network devices (NAS).

Toshiba

While people are gunning for bigger, better and more powerful HDTVs, those who are on a really tight budget and just want a secondary display can check out Toshiba's REGZA TV lineup. This 24-inch Toshiba 24PB1E, priced at $289, shouldn't hit your wallet too hard.

LED TVs have seen price stabilizing over the last few months, and this 32-inch Toshiba 24PS10E LED TV is one such example. It usual price of $1,099 is now slashed down, and varies based on stock, so do make a quick stop at the Toshiba booths to check on its current offer.

If size does matter, but you need to watch your finances, stick to LCD TVs. This 40-inch Toshiba 40AV700 comes with 4 HDMI ports and a dynamic contrast ratio of 50,000:1. Of course, it is a full HD TV, and is usually priced at $1,099.

The LG booth is found right at the front of hall 402.

Philips

The Philips TV booth is found at Hall 403, and is mainly composed of older models that had their prices slashed down for clearance. It seems like its a great time to get a new Philips TV.

The Philips HTS 9140 sound bar is going at $1599, down from its usual $1699.

The 46” Philips 46PFL8605 with Ambilight Spectra 2 and Pixel Precise full HD had its usual price of $3199 slashed right down to $1859, more than $1000 off. The HTS7140/98 sound bar however is still going at the usual price of $1199, but would make a great addition to the large screen TV.

The 42” 42PFL8605 with Ambilight Spectra 2 and Pixel Precise full HD is going at $1669, down from $2999, about $1300 off.

The 40” 40PFL8605 with Ambilight Spectra 2 and Pixel Precise full HD is going at $1389, down from $2689.

Digital broadcast reception in Singapore

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in getting the PlayOn HDDVR which I understand has digital tuners installed. I live in the East and was wondering if digital TV reception there is good.

Please advise.
