Heya fellows, anyone tried these Kurzweil KS-40A active monitors? At S$108, they seems to be pretty well priced.... Any opinions?

Well, some websites listed this monitors as "endorsed by Stevie Wonder", I wonder how true?:s11: But at $108, I reckon it shld give Creative's T20 or T40 a run for the money.

My friend has went for a short listen. Very good for its price. Confirm beat any multimedia speakers below 200. Warranty is 1 yr by citymusic itself. Only not so good thing is bass, don't expect it to rumble like those multimedia speakers

His colleague who just happen to tag along is even now considering to buy it

Thks for the feedback. Somemore digging revealed that the drivers (or at least the tweeter) is made by Edifier...

Forgot to add a point that it is better for music than those under 200 multmedia speakers, games and otherwise not sure

KS-40A offers amazing bang for buck for a pair of studio monitors, outclassing other monitors in its range, it also offers amazing clarity and detail with tight and accurate bass response

designed as a pair of studio monitors, the sound is accurate and flat which makes this an excellent choice for low budget musicians who wants a pair of high quality and accurate monitors

i'd say i'm pleasantly surprised at the quality from this hundred dollar pair of monitors

thus high quality need not necessarily mean an exorbitant amounts of money...

seems like alot of people recommended this but im lookin to run games using the speakers too. to run a woofer with this speakers would add additional costs too

well if one would listen only to music, then i suppose this would be the speakers they would want.

but how about to run games, movies where bass would add to the pleasure of listening. i dont mean having the thumping sound, but at least it must have the 'body'...

I was at City Music last weekend to pick up my Korg digital piano. Was surprised to see a sound monitor at $108 here in Singapore. The cheapest I have come across is the Edifier R600TC selling around RM$200 in Guangzhou China which is pretty similar.

For people into music, it is a very good buy.

indeed. wonder how well USB will power those thing up. :s13:
btw, i just noticed the KS40 is very similar to the Edifier R1000 offering. Tweeter is similar to R1200T instead.

Yes, this was what i noticed too.
Are Kurzweil and Edifier related? Or a case of cloning? Who clone who??:s11:

as someone mentioned previously, at least the tweeter is made by edifier. i guess KS40 is edifier's work. not much of a cloning i think, probably outsourcing. i dunno. anyone willing to open up their KS40 for verification? :D
