Do bookshelf speakers always have to be paired up with something? ?Amplifier Acoustic Energy AE2 is passive speaker, which means there is no amplifier built inside the speaker, you need separate amplifir to driver the speaker. Speakers can be wall mounted, booshelf or floorstanding, dependings it's size and design. [Edited]To be more specific on AE2 to avoid confusion.

Aego-M is an active speaker, which means there is amplifier built inside the woofer enclosure, to drive its tweeters and drivers. ae 2 &5 are powered speakers - no need amp to drive these beauties |

If got space constraints, get bookshelfs. If not, go for floorstands.
For PC usage, i guess using active speakers like studio monitors should probably suffice. Can save space on amps too. Normal MP3 playing should be good enough. Try Sinemax at Parklane. For hi-fi then go Adelphi. Bottom line, audition before buying. No test no buy. Pls dun just read good reviews then buy liao. I heard so many of those so call good sound system which sounded......mediocre. Pls try it out first. ![]()

Sometimes, you just have to find the right components to match to shine, for example: Audiolab 8000A + Epos ES11. ![]() My analogy, if you not serious, dun play with hi-fi. If you want to play hi-fi, be a hardcore, not a lukewarm! heh. Enjoy your weekend bro! ![]()

Heh, can't agree more. Esp pairing a SF floor stand in my experience. As a hi-fi regular, i always drive when buying speakers....carry my turn table, pre amp and amp down to test the speakers just before purchase. Several of my kakis do that so i dun skimp on casual testing too! ![]()

Hi
Just an update. I have bought Creative Gigaworks T40 for $210 (credit card promotion) and has been very impressed with the audio quality as compared to my previous Altec Lansing VS2321. My colleague went to my place recently and fell instantly with my speakers! LOL. And he is willing to fork out close to $200! If the deal goes through, I will be tempted to buy Gigaworks HD50, which will cost about $205 (Creative store promotion I think) Has anyone tried them? I can't seem to find any reviews yet. ![]()

I rather you keep on to your T40 although the HD50 is cuter~
