Looking for Toshiba R700/R830
Hi Hi.
Any Toshiba promoter out here? I'm looking at either the R700-2015U or R830-2011. Can post here or PM me the best price for these 2 models? And, if I don't want those freebies, how much lesser can I get? Thanks Thanks. |

Managed to score a R830-2011 with 8 GB RAM for $1999 at Courts Funan. Is there any difference in weight between them ? One place in Sim Lim told me that the 1.4kg weight advertised applies only to the R830 and the R700 is actually heavier. |

the weight betw the two series shld b very similar n shld not b the deciding factor. i would go 4 R830 if budget allowed as R830 is using the newer CPU with much better graphic performance n there is USB 3.0 for much faster transfer.

PORTÉGÉ R830 Press release by Toshiba Singapore.
R700 weighs from 1.39 kg, R830 weighs from 1.4 kg. Yes, this PORTÉGÉ R830-2011 come with 3 year international warranty. There's a 1st year local pick-up & return service too. Did get a nice compact Toshiba carrying case from Courts. Product keys of MS Office 2010 Business & Norton Internet Security to be redeemed from the agent. U can opt for either:

Thanks, thats v useful. Looks like the Sim Lim shop was trying to smoke me, they said that the R830 was the one that was 1.4kg, and that the R700 was heavier at around 1.7kg.
Looks like a good offer, I will check out nearest Courts (hope they have same offer as Funan). |

It's a must to do some extensive research of the products you wish to purchase prior to visits to retailers. This way U can safeguard against most misinformation.
With Google, it is so easy to obtain product specifications & information. Bear in mind that retailers have no legal nor moral obligation to provide accurate information. The onus is on consumers to arm themselves with the relevant product knowledge & pricing = Caveat Emptor.

Saturday night.
The difference is competition - Courts Funan has to contend with intense competition within Funan thus they offer attractive terms to seal the deal.

In the end I stopped by Courts Serangoon (Nex) on the way home and tried my luck with them since I already know what Funan can offer. I asked and got $99 off per set as I bought 2 sets and paid in cash. Still got the original laptop bag and mouse. |
