Hi everyone, its been sometime since I posted.
I just got my 2wire 2700hgv modem swapped out for a 2701hgv-e modem (due to equipment failure), and finally managed to figure out how to configure the new modem to do bridging and still use mio voice, after 2 hours of playing around with it.
Turned out the solution was extremely trivial, and since I saw that nobody seemed to be able to get it to work, I decided to post my steps here...
Firstly, if you find that you suddenly aren't able to log in to the 2wire mdc after hitting reset on the modem, just reset it again. (hold 10+ secs until the power blinks)
I did the following steps:
1. log in to mdc
2. under "Broadband Link", click configure
3. under "Internet Connection Settings", select "Disable" and submit
4. done (essentially).
5. hook your netgear/linksys/dlink/etc router to the 2wire's LAN ports and configure PPPoE on your router.
6. the main discovery - don't do anything else on the 2wire, like disabling routing or setting "Direct IP", etc.
It took me a little more effort than on the 2700hgv, and i can't believe it took me so long to mess around in the "link manager" and other debug pages to discover this so simple configuration change for the 2701hgv.
This worked for me, hope this helps you!
-- EDIT: there is an unexpected behaviour of the 2701hgv on reboot that messes with the method as described - pls read further down the thread.
Cheers,
Timothy.
