Backup a folder in C drive call SwSetup (inside contains all ur drivers, etc)
Then use this software .
I found it online, basically when u trigger the "activation_backup.exe"
It will auto create 2 files ---> "backup-cert.xrm-ms" , "backup-key.txt"
Save the BRS folder and the files inside into a thumbdrive/portable hdd/network drive
Third
Put in the vista cd and install.... when ask for CD Key
DO NOT FILL IN ANY!!! UNCHECK the activation of key when i'm online, when prompt... ask u yes or no , choose NO. If you choose yes, u will still struck in that screen
Then choose home premium on the next screen, tick the thingy to say u have confirm u install and buy the correct version
Fourth
While u are inside the system liao, insert ur thumbdrive/portable hdd/map ur network drive, etc...
trigger, "activation_restore.exe" , wait a while.... den ur version of windows is activated !!
Fifth
Install back all ur drivers, etc from Swsetup. Choose what u wanna install....
the folder name are obvious, if not, open *.cva with txt editor to see what is the software. I accidently installed the game... till now still don't know which folder, lazy to traceback
Extra note
For those who wanna install other version such as ultimate, etc..... when on step 3, choose that.....
Before, u wanna restore key that time, make sure u have change the backup key to the correct key, else................. i don't know what will happen

How to disable Aero interface??
- why disable? cause it sucks up ur display card memory, slow down ur system!
i can have it boot into windows in around 15 sec , login another maybe 10 sec to 15 sec nia(it feels like, i nv really use stop watch but really much faster!!!)

it will prompt you for 1 x DVD DL (dual layer) or 2 x DVD R or 9 x CD R , will take damn long cause it will burn then verify the disc
Optional : You can actually remove the system recovery partition that takes up around 10gb of your hdd space, just restore with those disc you burned when required
2) Windows vista biz and above , can actually do a full system backup. Personally i have tried it, around 12gb of hdd data is being compressed to 6+gb of image.
You can save it in DVD or in portable hdd.
Restoring, you will need the vista installation disc, choose repair
3) Acronis can't work at all ...... always hang, not sure why.... !@#!$!@%#@%

Those who want to know about the promotion , delivery , requirements etc
The thread is a MUST READ.
But those who already bought the laptop under the promotion and wish to go more indepth into the functionality, performance , tips and trips then stick to this current forum
"HP Tx1222AU tablet PC user thread"

Those dare devil who wanna void their warrenty, can try this
http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/showthread.php?t=8875

before the mod, my temp would hover at these figures:
Powersave mode:
idle = 40 degrees (cpu usage is 30% min)
busy = 45 degress (cpu usage is 50% max)
High performance mode:
idle = 50 degrees (cpu usage is 50% min)
busy = 55~60 degress (cpu usage is 100% max)
after the mod, these are the new temp figures:
Powersave mode:
idle = 30 degrees (cpu usage is 30% min)
busy = 35 degress (cpu usage is 50% max)
High performance mode:
idle = 40 degrees (cpu usage is 50% min)
busy = 45~50 degress (cpu usage is 100% max)

Favoring Power over Performance
In this example, we will try to optimize the operating system to give a preference to power savings, trading off performance to extend laptop battery life.
For this example, we’ll make the following changes to performance state parameters:
• Increase the Time Check interval to 250 ms, which slows the frequency at which the operating system checks for P state promotion or demotion.
• Set the Increase Policy to SINGLE, which causes the operating system to increase P states consecutively only in response to an increased workload.
• Set the Decrease Policy to ROCKET, which ensures that the operating system quickly returns to the lowest available P state when the workload is reduced.
• Set the Increase Percent to 50 percent, which requires the system to be at least 50-percent busy before promotion to a higher P state is considered.
• Set the Increase Time to 500 ms, which, because the Time Check interval is set to 250 ms and Increase Percent is 50 percent, requires the system to be at least 50-percent busy for 500 ms—two Time Check intervals—before promotion to a higher P state is considered.
We will also make the following changes to idle state parameters:
• Lower the C2 Time Check value to 30 ms, which causes the operating system to try and promote from C2 to C3 more quickly.
• Lower the C2 Promote Percent to 30 percent, which causes the operating system to try and promote from C2 to C3 more quickly.
To make the preceding changes, follow these steps:
1. First, determine which P state power setting definition to modify. Because these changes focus on saving power at the expense of performance on a laptop, we will change the settings intended for Power Saver only when running on DC power.
2. Next, determine the correct index value for the power setting definition we want to change. Looking at Table 3, the Power Saver DC power settings definitions are Index 1.
3. Start by modifying P state parameters.
4. Get the current binary dataset representing the power setting definition for P states by using index 1:
powercfg /getpossiblevalue sub_processor procperf 1
Type: BINARY
Value: 640164000000A0860100A08601001E00000032000000
5. Inspect the current settings to determine our starting values:
powercfg /ppmperf /decode 640164000000A0860100A08601001E00000032000000
Busy Adjust Threshold: 100
Time Check: 100
Increase Time: 100000
Decrease Time: 100000
Increase Percent: 30
Decrease Percent: 50
Domain Accounting Policy: 1
Increase Policy: 0
Decrease Policy: 0
*6. Next, starting with this binary dataset, change the values that we are interested in:
powercfg /ppmperf /encode /base 640164000000A0860100A08601001E00000032000000 /timecheck 250 /increasepolicy 1 /decreasepolicy 2 /increasepercent 50 /increasetime 500000
6413fa00000020a10700a08601003200000032000000
7. Inspect the following changes for accuracy:
powercfg /ppmperf /decode 6413fa00000020a10700a08601003200000032000000
Busy Adjust Threshold: 100
Time Check: 250
Increase Time: 500000
Decrease Time: 100000
Increase Percent: 50
Decrease Percent: 50
Domain Accounting Policy: 1
Increase Policy: 1
Decrease Policy: 2
*8. Now, save this binary dataset back to the power setting definition.
powercfg /setpossiblevalue sub_processor procperf 1 binary 6413fa00000020a10700a08601003200000032000000
*9. Next, modify the C state parameters. Start by getting the current settings:
powercfg /getpossiblevalue sub_processor procidle 1
Type: BINARY
Value: 010001000300000050C300002814000050C300001428000050C3000014630000
10. Check the current settings that we started with:
powercfg /ppmidle /decode 010001000300000050C300002814000050C300001428000050C3000014630000
Revision: 1
Scaling Allowed: 1
Disabled: 0
Policy Count: 3
[C1] Time Check: 50000
[C1] Demote Percent: 40
[C1] Promote Percent: 20
[C2] Time Check: 50000
[C2] Demote Percent: 20
[C2] Promote Percent: 40
[C3] Time Check: 50000
[C3] Demote Percent: 20
[C3] Promote Percent: 99
*11. Make the desired changes to the C state parameters:
powercfg /ppmidle /encode /base 010001000300000050C300002814000050C300001428000050C3000014630000 /cstate 2 /timecheck 30000 /promotepercent 30
010001000300000050c300002814000030750000141e000050c3000014630000
12. Verify the changes:
powercfg /ppmidle /decode 010001000300000050c300002814000030750000141e000050c3000014630000
Revision: 1
Scaling Allowed: 1
Disabled: 0
Policy Count: 3
[C1] Time Check: 50000
[C1] Demote Percent: 40
[C1] Promote Percent: 20
[C2] Time Check: 30000
[C2] Demote Percent: 20
[C2] Promote Percent: 30
[C3] Time Check: 50000
[C3] Demote Percent: 20
[C3] Promote Percent: 99
*13. Now save the C state parameter changes back to the policy definition:
powercfg /setpossiblevalue sub_processor procidle 1 binary 010001000300000050c300002814000030750000141e000050c3000014630000
*14. Finally, modify the Power Saver on-battery settings to use the new P state and C state choices, and make Power Saver the active power plan. After we are running on DC power, the changes are in effect and we can characterize the system:
powercfg /setdcvalueindex scheme_max sub_processor procperf 1
powercfg /setdcvalueindex scheme_max sub_processor procidle 1
powercfg /setactive scheme_max
the * = what u actually need to type in, the rest is just verification
it's for VISTA only, other os have this powercfg but not sure work the same or not
after applying that, i realise my cpu frequency won't jump up and down for nothing..... it remain stable........

Well okay, I'll move here away from metavolta's original thread.
I need advice on best way to upgrade to 2GB RAM. Aka cheapest.
Edit: Preferably with RAM type, where to buy, how to, etc.

With home premium, default installation, the OS can address up to 3+gb ram only
Max supported is 4gb (need 64 bits OS)
Currently 1x 1gb kingston is around 70+
1 x 2gb is 160 to 170 (at best bargain, 5th floor of SLS)
Anyway it's DDR2 667 SODIMM for our laptop

More RAM questions. In comparison with DDR2 667/PC5300, will the system run faster with DDR2 800/PC6400?

1. Ok thanks.
2. You reformatted your laptop right? Then can you get the Quicklaunch buttons to work? Ie the DVD, screen-rotate, etc around the screen.
3. You don't sleep is it?

i got 1 qn.. when you turn lcd to tablet mode.. in default.. the screen will rotate where the biometric is below ..
how can i make it default where the biometric is above..
reason for doing this:
the super heat vent is on top..
the biometric is too sensitive.. so when its on top.. its ok

Ok, I have found the solution to the problem. Not sure why, but the mediaring talk is not inside the SWSETUP. So what I did is I download it from the web, reinstall it and then uninstall it.
Hope this help.
