don buy enclosure it will make the drive super big....and very hot

just buy a SATA/IDE/Firewire to USB convertor ( i come with power adapter to power the internal drive)

usually about $15-$35 depend on the brands

The main problem with IDE/Sata to USB converter is the power adapter which tend to fail fairly quickly.

As for the external enclosure, try sourcing at Worldwide Computer Services located at level 6, SLS.

almost all the shop have it. the power adapter is like those laptop adapter with 4 pin connector(like those connector in the pc) some power adapter bundle is very lousy built....so pls test your adapter before leaving the shop.....

the power adapter fail easily as mention by albertlee is not becos of ide to usb convertor but the adapter that is made in china is very low cost type since it only cost $15-35 so buy one with better build.........

even those with usb casing can also be lousy adapter...but those casing can be $50-100 so due to higher selling price they can bundle better adapter..

so long u don keep unplug n plug the adapter to dvd drive (the ac plug to power adapter also don unplug cos some of the lousy adapter the socket is solder to pcb board but never have a slot on the adapter to secured it...so if u plug in n out the pin solder on the pcb might lifted up on the pcb that why the power adapter fail)

As long as your bios can detect bootable USB Device, it shouldnt have a problem.
