Import laptops from US ??

Is there any retailer in Singapore that would import laptops from US manufacturers' website or from US stores like bestbuy, costco... ??
I would love to know since I found many good models on the US websites but they are not sold in Singapore...
Thanks for viewing

Only shipping. If you want them to take risk for you then you pay (e.g. insurance).

Postal companies have limited liability (hence you should never send for eg money in the post, if its opened they have ZERO liability for your loss). Insurance is to extend it to other things such as accidents (e.g. plane with your package crash in ocean), theft or damage to goods.

A company that serves as middle man will assume all risk but you will pay for it as a premium. I believe you can ask GhostZM about how he does his // import.

Well, my main concern is the warranty. If I import a laptop from US with international warranty and anything happens to my lappy like dead pixels, DVD drive, webcam not working.... then I still can send my laptop to the care center in singapore for repairing under warranty, right ?
And celsus, I never knew of this service b4. Does it ship from anywhere like bestbuy, costco... (as long as they are in US) ??

You must check clearly that the product comes with international warranty. Email them to ask if it's not stated maybe?

You will get a physical address in the US that you then use for those sites to ship to (main problem with online shopping is they stipulate they only ship to US, so you get mailbox in the US). This address is actually the vpost (part of Singpost) box. You must give them your invoice so that they will know to expect it. When they receive it to your box, you pay them before they will forward it to you. If you don't wanna pay they get free laptop or something (I dunno actually just joking )

Bear in mind even if the product you bought from USA have international warranty, but does the local office here have the means to support it (if yours is those rare models) ie no parts, they need to ship back == high turnaround time, reluctant service etc.

Previously had a Sonicwall appliance that have int'l 24x7 support (come with 1 to 1 exchange as well) but when have hardware problem, the local distributor can't do 1 to 1 exchange because no stock, in the end wait 1mth plus before getting it replaced with another set. Then what's the point of paying premium for 24x7 int'l support when the local office can't deliver.

Thanks for notifying me.The one I'm gonna purchase, very sadly speaking, comes with standard limited warranty which is only effective in American regions. The price for that lappy is damn cheap, though. That's why I'm still hesitating to buy.
Thought I might just give it a try since a lot of people still purchase online...

Think security is not a problem. You do have to pay for handling charge plus GST. Also another problem is if the good arrived at the condition that is not right. It is difficult to get it returned.

its like either take more risk or hassle and purchase online, or buy from local resellers with high price....

i assumed that both of u might hv used vpost... so my stupid question is ...when do u pay the GST for ur package? do u pay for it by the time u had purchased at USA site or at vpost?
