Exclamation HELP !! Laptop cant load OS

Hello all,

I've an ACER Aspire 5562WXMi laptop, can't load OS XP since yesterday..
Have tried using backup Recovery DVD and ALT/f10(eRecovery) methods to format but to no avail. Below is what I've done so far.

When using backup Recovery DVD, it shows these error msges after 1min plus into formating C drive:
1) Fail in creating or opening a file
2) Cannot find preload.tag for SetBootlni

Tried google for error, forums say that the original MBR was erased so backup DVD can't find preload.tag

When using ALT/f10 method, it shows these error msges after 1min plus into formating C drive:
1) Fail in creating or opening a file
2) Cannot find file: C:\preload.tag
3) Cannot find file: D:\preload.tag
4) Cannot find file: X:\preload.tag

When trying to boot using HDD, it shows NTLDR is missing..

Any kind souls can help/advise in solving this prob?
Thanks in advance =)

Hum... did you delete any file before u wanted to format you laptop?
From what i can say it seems that the file you laptop is looking to be able to proceed with the recovery is missing and the only few option for this to happen is
1) the file was deleted by someone
2) it could have been corrupted therefore it cannot be read by the software
3) your harddisk partition is corrupted or ur hard disk is faulty

Thks for ya reply..
I did not delete any file..but apparently AVG free ver 9 clashes with microsoft essentials. When I switched on my laptop (right after I upgrades to AVG ver 9), it went into disk cleaning mode, saying that I did not shut down properly, went thr nearly 45mins of scanning and it deletes files from my system too. After which, laptop is working for few more days before the prob came about..
I think will try to get another hdd to try out..

Anyone knows any reliable n cheap shop to repair laptop ther than ACER repair centre?

If I buy a SATA laptop hDD and install my own, is it true that even if buy new hdd, install and put O/S inside, the laptop might not be able to recognise the hdd due to ACER ''hardware copyright'' issues? I still have my acer recovery OS disc. Anyone can advise?

"hardware copyright" issue?? I've never heard of such a thing before. I had an Acer notebook, and my hdd was faulty after 4 years, then I tried getting a new hdd as a replacement and installed windows xp, vista as well as win7 without any issue. As for windows xp, I did use my original recovery OS disc. Hope this helps. =)
