HP laptop Harvey Norman extended warranty at Kwiktron
I bought a HP laptop July 2008 from Harvey Norman with a 1+2 year extended warranty by Harvey Norman. So just 3 weeks ago the laptop motherboard failed and I called harvey norman extended service to ask about the warranty procedure. HN told me to go to Kwiktron pte ltd located in merchant square for the actual repair.
So i sent in my laptop for repair about 3 weeks ago and at first I thought the service was pretty good. The receptionist told me that it would be ready in 5-7 working days. Not too bad. So 4 days later I called to ask about the laptop and I was told they are waiting for the replacement motherboard to arrive from HP and it's going to take another week or so. I still thought it was alright, considering such thing is expected as the laptop might be out of production and they need to make special order for the replacement.
It started to annoy me when after calling a few times over the next week, I got different replies from different representatives. One lady told me that the laptop was AT HP being repaired and it'll take another two weeks. Another guy said "their" (i assume Kwiktron's) engineer is waiting for the part and he'd call me when it arrives in ONE week time. After one week, I called again today and I was told it will take another week or so for the part to come.
I'm very agitated by the inconsistent replies. First, I'm not sure where exactly my laptop is. It could be at Kwiktron being repaired by their engineers or it could be at HP service centre at Alexandra. Next, why are there so many different versions on how long it'll take for the repair to be completed. I don't think it's very hard to get an estimate on the estimated arrival time for the replacement part. Even if it has to be shipped in from overseas, shipping couriers now can give pretty accurate estimated time of delivery. So I think there's no excuse for them not being able to give me an accurate estimate.
Has anyone been in similar situation with kwiktron and harvey norman? Any advice please? I'm not sure what to do next. I'm thinking of bringing the issue up to harvey norman since they're afterall employing Kwiktron to do the repair service for them. I figured there's nothing much I can gain by complaining to kwiktron since they're just a service provider to harvey norman and they wouldn't have much autonomy and power to keep a harvey norman customer happy.
