for goodness sake, u shd have done ur home work b4 getting a ride.
First of all, NO ONE with the right knowledge of cars would get a RX8 for its performance, ie speed (pls get a WRX or EVO) and it is definately not a fuel efficent ride, (pls get a toyota vios or primus)
Blame it on urself and not the car.. u have basically made the 2 most OBVIOUS mistakes on getting the 8. Coz RX8 has NEVER been a fuel efficent ride.
Well, as for the pros for RX8 i should say its handling is at its best, a coupe with a little extra space in the rear if needed. At 1.3L it shd out drag most of the 2 litre NA rides,
Pple thats goin for shear raw power, pls stay far from the RX8, go get a CTR or WRX if u pockets are deeper, EVO or STI.
RX8 might not be the nicest looking ride out there, but it certainly not anywhere near the worst..
think about it..
LOL, you are a 8 driver? I did my homework before thinking of this 8. Paper spec seem too good to be true. It's only after I own it, then I realised how f%^ked up it is. Think any NA car also can beat it. It's rotary engine when revving sounds nice, other than that, I don't see any thing good in that. Check magnet? I don't think so, it look good only with kits on. In it's raw form, it's just like a normal car.
This is the car which is severely underpowered. A basic model has 210bhp, but it desn't behave like it has got that kind of horses packed within. Feels and drives more like a 120bhp car.

Wow....! Unbelievable! are you sure you did your homework? If you had done some research, you should have known that the 8 is not a runner. I did mine...know all its short coming...but still bought it as speed is not my concern. "Any NA can beat it.."....haha...I think its not the car... but the driver....

yes i'm a rx8 driver. if u have done ur homework u would not have made silly mistakes.
1) if u are savvy enought , on paper, horses are usually overrated, just like what the paper reported for FC.
2) Like i've mention, power is never associated with RX8. Please get a R8 not RX8.
3) Normal car? u mean normal coupe. tell me which car with the same category of rx8 is prettier without kits?
4) If you have DONE ur homework, rx8 is known for its handling just like the mx5, its rotary smoothness, and its sucide doors which makes ur rear passenger easier access in and out of the car then most coupes where you have to lower ur front seats.
5) As for speed, blame it on ur right leg, if u want to have FC , please geta vios or jazz, maybe CNG. If u can't even outrun a 120hp sedan with a RX8, i'm wondering if u need a gallardo to outrun a nissan sunny. =D
Well, jokes aside , I'm not boosting and giving credit to the rx8 just because i'm driving it, but simply just bashing it w/o any fair grounds is simply appalling and unacceptable.
Learn for exprience, don't just look at specs on paper,
please blame it on urself for not getting the ride ur expecting, I hope ur new ride would give u much satisfaction as wat my current ride is giving me.
I was driving an RX8 before. Just changed my car 2 months ago. I found the RX8 very pretty to look at, with nice interior and I loved the suicide doors. Always wowed my passengers. The boot space was also reasonable for a coupe and sufficient for my needs. Note that insurance was not as high as many people think as it was considered a 4 door car, with a 1.3L engine (they don't care about the rotary sh*t).
Before I bought the car, many people warned me about the fuel consumption, but I thought it was manageable. However, over time, it became worse! And worse of all, I do a lot of city driving. Bad... 1 full tank only lasted me 350km.... I heard the face lifted versions are much better in fuel consumption, so you can ask those owners.
Other than the fuel consumption, the most disappointing thing, other than the severe lack of power, was that the car has some serious manufacturing problems. My coolant light is perpetually ON, because of the sensor problem. To resolve, have to change the entire coolant tank - cost $250 to $300. My power steering almost failed once - this seems to be commonly reported. Major vibration from the engine in the mornings - common problem as well. To top it off, 2 weeks before I got rid of this hunk of junk, the passenger side sun visor decided to split open at the plastic seams - another common problem.
My advice, go and browse the forums of the car make and model you want to buy first and see if the car has problems. All the above issues are commonly reported in the RX8 forum www.rx8clubsingapore.com. Some issues have no solution, and some solutions cost in the thousands. Go figure. I think its too much hassle to own an RX8. With today's technology, the least I expect from a car is to perform without all these issues, fuel consumption aside.

yea, the FC sucks big time for this car, not sure about the newer batch. Anyway, no offence to any RX8 drivers, for I was once a owner of RX8 too. Just sharing my thoughts on this car, and it's my personal thoughts, anyone can agree or disagree with me. My tthoughts are all based on I owned it, drove it, feel it, that's why I came to this conclusion.
Maybe the way Mazda designed and build a RX8 with 210BHP is different from what I expected out of a car packed with 210BHP. WHy some people like to say "you should do your homeworks or blame it on yourself"? I am not an amateur driver and owner, like I say, maybe it's just not I expected. Well, not boasting but at least my current ride perform much better than what I expected..
