Cost Effective to make Blow Holes
Ok something to share and hope this answer to the questions to those who pm me on where I get my blow holes done on my case. There is no tricks to it, just some skills which I pick up from my dad.
NOTE : IF YOU ARE NOT AN ADULT OR THE RIGHT AGE TO USE CUTTING TOOLS, KINDLY DO NOT READ THIS AS I AM NOT RELIABLE FOR ANY INJURIES.
Now many will do this inorder to make blow holes. - Purchase Electrical Drill
- Purchase Drill bits
- Purchase Hole Drill bits
now my question to you, how often do you use them once your mod is done?
If you find above is good enough then skip the below section.
For me I use these - 1 existing hand drill pass down generations from my great grand father.
- 1 set of drill bit
- 1 Metal Cutter
- 1 half round file.
and a bit of imagination lol, kindly beware that the process below might takes sometime but it's safer and cheaper as you are not handling high spinning electrical drills that will cause accidents and hence, more accuracy.
The Original Back panel with only one fan and going to do the 2nd hole right below.
1st measurements to where you want to place your fan, can be 80, 92 or 120 or whatever diameter you want.
I draw two circles, the outer circle will be actual circle of the final product. Else the inner circle to be drill with small drill bit as a pilot and then a bigger drill bit to clear off more material nearing to the outer circle.. see below
Close up, if you notice, when I mentioned pilot, it's actually holes done with smaller drill bit, these are done so that when you use a bigger drill bit, it acts as a guide for the bigger drill bit to follow through.
Now using the Metal Cuter, just snip off in between drilled holes, see below.
Once you have that, use a half round file and slowly file till the roundness you want. Not forgetting once you have done filing a round blow hole, you need to mark 4 points to be drill, these four points are for you to attach your fan to the hole you have made. Final Product below.

Another sharing that might be useful to you if you want those fan screws to be hidden. Giving you a proper finish.
what you need is just these
The making of blow hole is up to you but if you choose to use my above mentioned, by all means. However do not drill any holes for your fan screws. This is how I have done it and it was a trick I learn from searching the internet.
Epoxy purchase from any DIY Stores. I got this for SGD $7.50 bucks at China Town. Basically it's like glue. Instead of gluing paper, you are using this to glue metal with metal.
A close up on fan screws glued to the case using Epoxy. When you are doing this, make sure only the screw head touches the epoxy and not the screw thread. Reason being you might not be able to bolt your fans on those screws when the Epoxy harden on it's threads
Let the epoxy dry for 30minutes (this depends on the epoxy you purchase), then bolt your fans onto the screws.
Final Product

Just to kill your curiousity, how come my linings are not black and it's white. I didn't purchase U Channel Rubber Tubing to cover the rough edges, I just grab some spoiled unused TV cable
(originally white in color) then use thinner or plastic remove solution to erase the words on it, strip it and clear it's intestine and use that as lining.. see below

Thank you for the compliments and thanks for the offer but is ok
You are right about holesaws, infact they are faster in cutting and cleaner, less filing that is.. I do have the electrical equipment and holesaws of various to do this job, but it just bugs me to see some newly learn modders who only mod one or twice to have purchase these expensive equipment (Black & Decker Electrical Drill, HoleSaw of various diameter, Dremel and etc), they only use them one time or mabye two if they change case that is. Therefore I wrote this article to share with others, you need not have to spend so much on mod equipments that might be dangerous to us and might have better use of money on PC components itself.
But still thanks for your offer

Nice!! At least buying a drill is much more useful for home use too as compared to dremel.

thank you thank you.. this thanks to my dad who pass his skills to me when I was young
actually anyone can do it.. just need to know the correct way of filing. ok don't mind me being lengthy. I don't know how many of you do fling before. If you want to file material off, you don't need to apply too much strength, let the file do the job for you.. Most people file things using only the middle section of the file which will be slow, therefore they apply force and sometimes get hurt when it slips. so just use the full length and stroke through. If you apply this method, you will find that in no time, the unwanted material will disappear faster.

I do agree with you and some of us do use power drills on other stuff besides case modding. As for dremel, I find them too expensive even though I have one with me. hence I don't even want to use it.. so dangerous.. spinning at high speed and even letting the rotatory blade to do the job, sometimes the blade will just snap. I rather use a jigsaw then to a dremel.

make sure you are old enough and please be careful ok. If you are new to modding, best to stay out of electrical tools and use manual tools, make sure you wear protective gears like wearing a protective glasses and a pair of gloves. Don't get yourself hurt.

Blowhole burns acrylic easily. Drilling might make the plastic crack too.
