I'm sorry, but i have to correct you, in Singapore, the Yamaha lineup for U Series consists of U1, U3, YUS5.

The other models you listed are not for local market.

If you're looking for an upright grand, you'll have to pick the YUS5, as only the YUS5 is equipped with a sostenuto pedal, different from the other models.

Sostenuto is mainly found only in grand pianos. However, if you have space constraint, the YUS5 would be the upright alternative

thanks for the info. Actually I was just referring to the second hand market, so practically you can get those models if the importers bring them in.

I want to clarify something here, not all upright grand (especially older type) has sustenuto pedal. Also not all grand piano has sustenuto pedal (esp cheaper ones / baby grand)

I am a piano teacher but I would say you can teach yourself to a certain standard. As long as you keep trying and practise. Give yourself goals, pieces you want to play etc. If you get stuck you can always have lessons once a month etc, just to keep you going!
Good Luck! Houston Piano Lessons

Recently, i just gathered my courage and enroll myself in a music scool to learn adult piano. I was very motivated and sincere to learn.. but after a few lessons, i being to feel that the teacher is getting impatient of me! After i finish playing (with much difficulties and mistakes) she would just Shrug and said nothing. Feeling embarrassed, i wouldl say "let me try it again"

Like every 10 mins or so she will look at her watch to see if it's time to end. As soon as the 45 mins is up, she stood up (her bags already packed) and can't wait to send me out of the room.

I have abs no prior knowledge on music and i only started now so i seems really clumsy with the fingers. But that is the purpose of me learning isnt it! She gives me the feeling of not being professional and i feel so ashame and dishearted of myself.

Anyway, i have request for a change of teacher (and hopefully, things will be better) Sorry, i just want to rant !!! :p

You have done the right thing to change teacher

But my advice is try practice harder, so can play nicer.. (fewer mistakes =) no offence intended)
hopefully tt way ur teacher will take the lesson more seriously.

Anyway I am currently teaching piano , if you wanna learn from me, please PM me haha

Is a 61 key keyboard enough for practice at home as a beginner?

Hi I'm interested in taking piano lessons. I do not have any music background whatsoever and do not own a piano. I'm also currently in NS and can only take lessons during the weekends. PM me.
