Lightbulb 23dollar usb adaptor from engenius(senao), GPGT

hi,

i would like to ask for review of this wireless g usb adaptor from ENGenius (from taiwan's SENAO). it cost only 23 as from below image. anyone use it before? how is it? is it value for money or is it lousy? the website says the model is NUB-3701, but media pro's one is EUB-3701... dunno what's the diff sia..

NUB-3701
Ralink Wireless 2.0 USB dongle

i'm comparing it with linksys compact wiresless g usb router as per url below, which cost 42dollars. its almost double man. but the brand is there.... can some one enlighten please?

linksys WUSB54GC

REVIEW IS OUT FINALLY!!

finally tested. the 23 dollar things really feel like 23 dollar in terms of setup and starting up.

firstly, its not plug and play, meaning u need to install drivers. following the setup in the disc, it did not detect the adapter properly. the new hardware wizard came up and i had to click next and detect recommended drivers. this is not a big problem, and i guess its because i inserted the adaptor once in the first place to try the plug and play ability, therefore the installation a bit problematic.

secondly, after installing successfully with drivers, the usb adaptor auto connect to the strongest network available!.... haha. and thus it got connected to someone elses's router. i had to quickly disconnect it, before someone sue me. hahah :p

the gui/user interface was not bad.it has many userful information like power in terms of percentage, transmit speed, receive speed, connection quality, noise level, signal quality etc etc... the manual was well written, it covered every single option available in the user interface. the interface was quite advance. i think more complex than window's one. but i 'm not using all these functions like adhoc network or leap or peap stuff.. too difficult already. haha. so its ok.

OVERALL, i rate this 23 dollar tthing, 4.5/5 for value. 4/5 for quality.

i have not test bit torrent / gaming / long hours usage yet. so cannot really comment. got time will post more pics of packaging and stuff

As long as the driver supports NDIS, windows can command it directly.

Usually just plug in and let XP detect it. Then it will prompt for your CD. The HW detection wizard will only pick up and install the driver.

Just try both. The manufacturer gui can always be disabled if you wish to.

This is the cleanest & simplest way.

Tell me how it perform, like to lay my hand on one if it is good.
