i get a green icon in utorrent, but when i use the port checker, it says that the port is not open?
so is it open or not? the speed now is only about 55kB/s. whereas i have seen it go up to 900 b4. so whats the problem? i believe the ports have been fwded correctly
10mbps means 1.25mB/s maximum download. so 900 is very possible, provided you're getting close to your max download speed from the isp. what version of utorrent are you using? i've had some problems with getting utorrent's speed checker to acknowledge my opened ports in the past with earlier versions as well. anyway, since it's unsafe not to upgrade to 1.76 and above now, you might wanna try and upgrade to 1.76 or 1.8 and see if the problem persists.
anyway, if you're getting 50+kB/s on a torrent, it's likely your port IS open. just check the router again la. you could try changing to another port if utorrent doesn't acknowledge the opened port. also, your speed at 900 won't be replicated with every torrent, simply because well, it's another torrent, and the speed you get from each torrent depends heavily on the seeders/leechers as well. unless of course, you're saying you're getting low speeds on a very well seeded torrent...
thanks..i just updated and will try and experiment with diff ports...would be good if someone could let me know what ports are good to use for singtel though

port should be @ least 5 character, u use random port generate by the program can liao lor.
Hi All. Im also experiencing the same issue as Boltstorm. Green Tick on uttorent but port not opened when tested. My real IP starts with 121.***.**.* but when using utorrent port checker it checks the 165. IP which is the transparent proxy's IP that every singnet user is under i believe. Previously i have been using utorrent with no problems and the port checker always checks my real IP and stats that it's opened. Dont know why since a month ago suddenly it changes and therefore the situation. Trying to find a solution and this is the closest thread i've found. Plz help.
Oh yes. I've tried changing ports, updating to latest utorrent 1.7.6. setting my 2wire firewall to dmz mode to allow all ports. But the checker still reads my 165. IP. Even when i go to speedtest.net the IP it reads is also the 165.

i have the exact problem as skysurfer.......got a green tick, but port forwarding shows error.....
tried downloading open office ==> 0kb/s
tried changing ports, utorrent versions, modem settings, still can't work
i'm using 2wire 2700hgv router. i found that there are 3 computers on the firewall settings when i have only 2 connected to my router. (i really dunno if this matters or not.....)yah my wireless is encrypted.
Hi,
Same issue here. The problem appears to happen about few weeks ago.
I'm quite confident my port is forwarded correctly but not sure why utorrent keeps showing Singnet proxy IP (i think)as my external IP.
For people who are using private torrent sites that require some form of "sharing/uploading", this will affect your ratio. Which is why i'm quite keen to resolve this problem. I can DL with no problems but I can;t really upload to people.
If anyone has a suggestion, I would be happy to learn. Thank you.

Not really, when i download from some very well seeded torrent, I get very horrible speed! 2000+S VS 500+L.. Port cfm working as most of the torrents is getting above 100+kbps.. lol Do noted that when i am only d/ling 2 torrents anyone time with 100 tcp connections to each.
