My friend told me about this, and I called up the company to check it out. They claim that a high-end German speaker manufacturer wants to market test their speakers in Singapore, and are giving away 5.0 home theatre speakers in return for a survey 6 months later. Its been quite well publicised around the net that "Linear Acoustik" is a fake brand name used in white van speakers, so I asked them to spell out their brand for me. They spelled it as "Linear Acoustics", which is a legitimate german brand. Very sneaky
Then they gave a cock-and-bull story about Linear Acoustics wanting to test Singapore market against home theatre systems like Samsung and Pioneer. I seriously doubt that such a high-end brand is competing against these mass-market brands. And when they start asking for $180 for delivery, I'm certain it is a scam. Worse, they then pressure me to have it delivered by the weekend, because they need to clear away the stock fast. Classic con tactic, using time pressure.
The company name is Dickson Pte Ltd or something like that.
I'm reporting them to the police. These *******s will feel the wrath of me. Hey guys, let's report to case & ST forum too. Let's drive dickson enterprise to enter & prise open his son's dick!

If the facts of sales are deceiving - then it's cheating..
That such a company like dickson can survive this long with such unethical tactics tell us how little protection we get here as consumers.
In first world countries, buyers can get cash rebate on any product for any reason if they are not satisified within 1-2 weeks. Did that drive up the price of goods there, eg. the US? Strange....prices of many things there like tv, electronics much cheaper than here.
of course cheaper in US, coz the number of buyers are more. They got big bulks there.
of course. things in Indonesia and M'sia s'pose to be cheaper than Singapore; however, i think singapore's port favourable position - not to forget FTA gives a clear advantage compare to these 2 bigger countries.
we need more ppl in this country. There's a simple reason why Singtel keeps on eating up other phone operator in Indonesia, india and Australia --- they need the mass..
Hi guys, I was approached via phone call this morning by this lady from Dickson Enterprise, say I hav been selected to own a set of sound system just by helping them to complete a survey. Promised me no selling of things, no seminars blah blah blah. ONLY catch is I need to pay $180 for freight / handling charges to bring the speakers in. Say the speakers are from Germany, almost Nakamichi std (sigh). Anyway, she offer to let me see and "test drive" the sound system at their show room before I decide. The address given is 30 Lor Ampas (along Balestier Rd), #02-01. I made a appt tmr but dont think I will be going anymore after seeing your thread (thanks guys).

often, it's best to do proper research before making a purchase.
caveat emptor.....there's a reason this phrase has existed for so long.
