Prepare for THE CLASH OF THE TITANS

From movieweb.com:

Warner Bros. has set Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) to direct their remake of Clash of the Titans, with script by Lawrence Kasdan.

According to Variety, Warner has essentially greenlit Clash of the Titans right after landing Leterrier.

In Clash of the Titans, Perseus, the son of Zeus, must overcome a series of obstacles to save his beloved Princess Andromeda, including cutting off the serpent-tressed head of Medusa, who can turn a man to stone with a single glance.

The original 1981 Clash of the Titans starred Harry Hamlin as Perseus and Laurence Olivier as Zeus but is best remembered for Ray Harryhausen's visual effects that brought to life Medusa, the Kraken and other creatures.

No production date has been set.

Wow. Remake of an old classic, but this time with all the visual advances made possible by CG. I remembered watching this at the theatre (the old pre-reno Cathay) cinema during a primary school outing - 27 years ago.

during the last weekend, I watched The Ten Comandments and The Chronicle of Narnia. Then I recalled this classic movie and wonder will Hollywood remake. Seems that Hollywood already has plan.

im quite sure that with today's CG capability which is already NOTHING NEW, this show will not give a classic feeling since every other epic Hollywood show can do the same

the old CLash of the Titans was classic because there was no show like it before
so actually, it's not very wise to do a remake on such a classic
it's like remaking StarWars episode IV A New Hope or Lord of the Rings
the remake CG can be awesome but there's no way we can get the classic feeling back ever again

Why is it the Titans? Shouldn't it be the Olympians?

From comingsoon.net:

Empire magazine reports that Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace, upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) will star opposite Sam Worthington in the Louis Leterrier-directed Clash of the Titans.

Arterton will play the demi-goddess Io. "My part is... the coolest part," she said. "Io's not in the original film. Perseus falls in love with her and then [CENSORED FOR TINY SPOILER]. It's a really great part."

Arterton adds that compared to the 1981 original Harry Hamlin film, this one is "much more about Perseus' mission, and how he deals with being the son of Zeus."

Warner Bros. Pictures is eyeing a March 26, 2010 release for Clash of the Titans.

From comingsoon.net:

Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes will play warring gods in Warner Bros. and Legendary's Clash of the Titans, the Greek-god epic directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk), says The Hollywood Reporter.

Neeson is playing Zeus, the wise yet sometimes ill-tempered king of the gods and father of Perseus (Sam Worthington).

Fiennes will play Hades, ruler of the underworld who aims to overtake Zeus and rule over all. Fiennes' deal is in still in negotiations.

The two actors join Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton and Alexa Davalos in the production, which begins shooting later this month in the U.K.
