Singtel Huawei E169

Hi all,

i have encounter 1 problem w the huawei E169 device dat singtel gave me when i signed up for the mobile broadband last week.

i am using asus EEE 1000H/XP and everything is fine when i initial plug in huawei E169 into 1 of my usb port.

then aft connectin to the internet thru e mobile device, i plug in my sandisk cruzer 2gb thumbdrive and then e internet connection gt disconnected and my huawei E169 auto gt disconnected frm my notebook.

i wonder if there is any user out there encounter this prob. or is it anythin to do w e settings?

i am running on battery supply and it is fully charged.

and what is e initial default password for Huawei E169 device? i would like to enable e password verification function but it prompt me for e current password but i cant find it anywhere in e instruction manual

hope someone out there noes e solution to my 2 qns.

it is possible the same usb host cant supply enough power, thats all.

i plug in power supply it still e same prob. and i tried pluggin in another thumbdrive and it works perfectly fine.

using EEE 1000 linux(change to xp). working fine...
1. throw away your cruzer, i have no problem even plugged in a usb hdd(2.5" ide)

2. call singtel, i tried 2 times still wrong pin.. left 1 try dun want to waste time asking for puk code

it does not matter whether you plug in power adapter or running battery, it only means the usb controller cannot supply that current required for both device

not all usb device consume same amt of current oso

i oso have e same prob, using 8gb cruzer, in e end, i gave up... i use another thumbdrive...

if you want to use both together, I believe the only way is to get a self powered usb hub to address the likely root of the problem. Then again it may seems ridiculous to you to get a self powered usb hub when your usb ports are not used up, plus you need to plug in external power for it.

oh im reli glad dat im nt e onli 1 havin prob. here...btw hav u figured out wat prob. is this? is it purely bcos e usb port unable to supply enough power to e device dat's y it gt disconnected automatically by itself?

instead of using thumbdrive, make use of the SD card slot. get a 8/16gb sdhc?

not power problem, I said even power up a external 2.5" hdd also can...

ok i found e solution to this prob.

hope it works for other ppl who encounter e same prob. as me...

wat i did was i disable e auto startup of U3 dat is inside sandisk cruzer..

i guess i no nid to list dwn e steps of disabling the auto startup of U3..

then aft dat it juz simply works well for me...

ok i shall list dwn e steps of disabling the auto run of U3 program frm ur sandisk cruzer in case some user do nt noe hw to disable it.

1. click on the red square "cruzer" icon on ur desktop
2. then go to "settings"
3. then select "U3 Launchpad settings"
4. go to "autorun" tab
5. under "Autorun U3 Launchpad" choose "Disable Autorun"

that will b all...
