iPhone3.0: Verified and Working! Tethering AND MMS for M1/Starhub. Both!

Hi all,

Just follow the steps below and hopefully it will work for you as it did for me. This will work for Starhub and M1.

1. Delete all profile(s) that you have installed from previous mobileconfigs. You can find them at the bottom of the Settings/General. Skip this step if you have none installed.
2. Goto Settings/General/Network/Cellular Data Network and click Reset Settings. You may want to copy the mms settings down first.
3. Restart the iPhone
4. Connect iPhone and backup your iPhone. After backup, disconnect your iPhone.
5. Follow the instructions here on how to enable carrier bundle support. For Mac Users. For Windows Users.
6. After enabling carrier bundle support, proceed to download the custom ipcc file from the list below
7. Connect your iPhone and start iTunes.
8. Option+Check for Update (Mac) or Shift+Check for Update (Win) and select the ipcc file to update.
9. This will take a very short while. After updating, You will see that shwapint as the APN for cellular data and shmms as the APN for MMS plus MMS settings. No need to change anything.
10. Restart your iPhone and try it out.

IPCC FILES

Starhub ipcc v1.1 with Operator Logo

Starhub ipcc v1.1 without Operator Logo

Mobileone ipcc v1.1 with Operator Logo

Mobileone ipcc v1.1 without Operator Logo

Do not change the APNs after updating. You will have to redo all the steps again.

Let me know if it works! it did for me.

Remember to quit iTunes completely before applying the carrier bundle support.

Credits to alanwwm for the Group MMS and SMS fix. newbish for supplying M1 settings.
Thanks ghasse4 for version 1.1!!!!

I did notice a funny part is that once i type in the command in cmd mode....itune instantly pop up without me having to follow step 4 which is "Connect your iPhone and click to launch iTunes from your Start Menu."

Hi all,

After much research around the internet, I wrote a custom ipcc for starhub enabling both tethering and mms. Just follow the steps below and hopefully it will work for you as it did for me. This will only work for Starhub users. M1 users please DO NOT TRY this. It will not work for M1 users at all.

6. After enabling carrier bundle support, proceed to download the custom ipcc file here.
7. Connect your iPhone and start iTunes.
8. Option+Check for Update (Mac) or Shift+Check for Update (Win) and select the ipcc file to update.
9. This will take a very short while. After updating, goto Settings/General/Network/Cellular Data Network and key in your mms settings. You will see that shwapint as the APN for cellular data and shmms as the APN for MMS.

Hi bro, firstly thanks for the effort but this method only works for those who d/l the first version of itunes 8.2. The newer versions are not able to manually select ipcc file. I'm not sure how to tell if your itunes is newer or older version.

So those who want to try, at your own risk please.

Cheers

I'm using the latest version of iTunes for Mac. You gotta read carefully every step. Especially the tutorials provided by iClarified.

The first version of iTunes 8.2 does not need these steps. This is for the newest version of iTunes, which is 8.2.0.23

Ok, got it to work....

Here are some small but important steps that might have been missed out...

Use only on Mac...

1) When you quit iTunes, make sure it's completely quit by going to Activity Monitor and quit iTunes Helper.
2) When you download the custom ipcc file, do not auto unzip the file. Use Firefox instead of Safari.

These 2 steps are important!

Thanks musashi!
