The Data Recovery Corner

[Data Protection Tips - Error-Checking & Defragmentation]

Take action when your data is still hanging around in your hard disk.
Perform regular Error-Checking and Defragmentation on your hard disk today, if you see my thread reminder.

These two process helps to mark all bad sectors in your hard disk and prevent your hard disk from writing data on damaged regions/areas of the hard disk, thereby reducing the risk of data lost or even worse, hard disk failure for whatever reasons.

Understand that, given the size of the hard disk nowadays, performing such maintenance activities may not be practical during office hours, you may want to plan at the end of the day, in the middle of the week (eg like today, Wednesday) or last day of the week on Friday. If you are using your own personal computer, then you have more flexible in this area.

Remember the old saying, Prevention is Better Than Cure.

FJDT (Fujitsu ATA Diagnostic Tool) For Windows

I would like to introduce this useful official tool for those with Fujitsu Hard disk,
as a form of preventive data care activity.
Also, this tool does not need any installation and has small file size.

FJDT for Window is a diagnostic tool to help customers speedily verify whether their hard drive is operating correctly. FJDT for Windows can diagnose your suspected faulty hard drive by checking the S.M.A.R.T. data and also by scanning the entire surface of the drive, sector by sector, to verify media integrity. FJDT for Windows runs on the Windows Operating System and is a quick way of diagnosing a suspect hard drive without having to disassemble your PC and remove your hard drive. This will enable you to get back on-line in the shortest possible time.

FJDT for Windows will only perform a non-destructive test allowing your data to remain intact after diagnosis. After running FJDT a "PASS" or "FAIL" result will be generated. A "PASS" confirms a correctly functioning drive whilst a "FAIL" confirms a fault and the necessity to contact your supplier.

Operating Systems : Windows 2000, , , ,
Filesize: 221KB. Version : 113 Internal ID: 448
