someone told me they're winning everytime because they are not making much mistakes
if they did a major mistake, they will lose popularity and will lose their seats in time to come
but cant anyone see with their own eyes that the mistakes they make are major - adding pressure on the people by increasing taxes, GST, ERP, sucking out the money out of the people yet not doing much for the society
look at Temasek Holdings losing money, SuZhou losing money, all taxpayers money.
look at the road tax and ERP, COE they are sucking out from people, yet they have not built roads in vital areas. since 10 years ago they have not solve the traffic problem at CTE and other expressways. out of 10 times during peak hours there are 7 times traffic jam, but they keep increasing ERP now even at night times but CTE still jams regularly
You may say they are trying to build MRT to solve traffic problems, but seriously dude, do they ever build new MRT without increasing MRT fares?? For every MRT rail they build they will suck it back many times more from the people.
Now as a result of too high standard of living, people are not giving birth, and what they do is just to take the short cut out - bring in more Foreigners to compete jobs with us all, causing more problems in our society. Once these foreigners earned enough, they just leave Singapore.
So anyone tell me PAP has not made major mistakes? Isnt money sucking and causing stress and adding much more pressure to singaporeans already a major mistake?
Now we all see the Singapore government having million dollar salary into each and every of their pockets yet these millions of dollars are not used to build the country instead it goes down into personal greed in their pockets.
So Tell me why PAP still wins every election

they win coz sgporeans are cheap. this type of gst credits ess whatever also can buy their vote. any party can buy my vote directly with handouts or indirectly in kind, but it won't come cheap.

if PAP can create scenarios to make their competitors bad and create an environment for them to stay in power
then, is it not us, the people, who can create competition against them by giving the opposition a chance, even if the opposition is weaker
would you rather be oppressed by a strong government with no opposition?
or rather have freedom when the government is busy suppressing a weaker opposition?

Singapore's electoral system is designed to keep the PAP in power. It is thus no wonder that half the population of Singapore never gets to vote during election time. In 2006, 37 out of 84 seats were not contested, while in 2001, 51 out of 84 seats were not contested by the Opposition. So it seems like an improvement over the years right?
Well you're wrong. Maybe more people are getting to vote, but does your vote really matter? Just look at the election results for 2006.
With only 66.6% of the electorate voting for them, the PAP grabbed 82 out of 84 seats. Compare this to the 2 seats, one to Low Thia Khiang and one to Chiam See Tong, 2 out of 84 is a miserable 2.3%. That's almost one-tenth of the number of seats they deserve if you look at the proportion of votes they won. Sure, this may be a feature in other Westminster style democracies, but surely other democracies do not gerrymander as blatantly as the PAP does.
Regardless of whether this occurs in other democracies, the extent of this underrepresentation of the people's vote is alarming. It simply points to a flaw in the electoral system - the concept of GRCs. These are inherent flaws in the electoral system that prevent your vote for being of any real consequence. Until these flaws are dealt with, I really wonder whether there is a point in voting wisely at all.
However, the solution to all this is difficult to think of. The simplest is to put more hope in our vote, the alternative, to pressure the PAP-government to reform the electoral system, by rallying help from the international community as Dr Chee does. If I were as busy as you though, I'll simply vote for the opposition, just to keep the PAP on its toes. Maybe this would be voting wisely.
MM Lky already said he can see the future and his party sure win next 2 GE. What more you want to know? Obviously
Not likely. With the current situation where the govt can't do anything for fellow singaporeans, Do the people still trust PAP? Why wait for the next 2 GE?

It might already be too late, the foreign born Citizens will swing the votes towards the PAP.
1. Power of propaganda like our mass media
2. Fear of change. People will say that opposition will destroy Singapore.
3. There are a number of people benefitting from PAP rule, they do not want a change in govt. They will vote for PAP
4. There are also a number of influential people who do not want a change in govt. They will influence others to vote for PAP
5. Most don't care about politics. Probably the biggest group of them all. These people will usually vote for the ruling party because they are so used to voting for the ruling party. You will need something drastic for them to vote for other parties.

I agree to a point but similar political 'tricks' are employed all around the world. Sometimes it is good to take a look at other perspective too

I personally feel that a change will be better even if it has to be worse (to a certain extend) Right now in our situation we have to change to worse to be better.. We already "first class" citizens nothing more to look forward to....
Maybe we have to "downgrade" ourselves by changing to a gament "not so good" cheaper more humble more helpful and not so greedy etc? We will have a not so good life and do not have to fork out so much for our living expenses and HDB .... ha ha ha ha
