My Rig:
AMD Phenom II x3 710
Biostar TA785GE
OCZ Platinum 4GB Kit 2x2GB PC1066
WD 500GB HDD
Windows Vista

Faced two problems after setup of Rig:
1) DDR2 can only set at 800Mhz with timing 4-4-4-15
2) BSOD with error msg `Fan not working'

On the RAM, tried everything I could, learning from OCZ website the various solution, but no go; RAM unstable at PC1066. Memtest86 can never passed at test 5.

On Fan not working error. Notice this only happens if I had the software HWmonitor enabled.

After several days of troubeshooting the rams, give up and rpted the errors to Kaira. Today, just came back from Kaira with 1to1 exchange for new motherboard. Fix all my stuff back in and viola, my RAMs set at PC1066, 5-5-5-32 passed memtest86. Just need to do another memtest86 for at least 4hrs and do a Prime95 and if all pass, the PC is now officially good to go. On the HWmonitor program, think it's buggy but it doesn't happen often. Will just rpt this to Kaira to feedback to Biostar for a future fix in their Bios.

btw, Kudos to Kaira for good service. They called me to help me work on my problem and when no solution was viable, suggested a 1 to 1 exchange. The only downside I see(and I've feedback to rep) is their website for warranty registration and online support tech to report problems. After entering all the info and press send, no acknowledgement was rec'd; the page just goes blank. I thought I didn't submit and did this a few times; found out from Kaira rep that this is how the site was setup but he will feedback to his management.

just curious, other than the BSOD msg, what made you certain that it wasn't the rams causing the problems but the motherboard?

Well, nothing is certain. I went to OCZ website support forum. Read all and did wat was recommended for similiar setups. Finally, posted my problem in website. OCZ, base on wat I've tried, believes it not a RAM problem...but cannot be certain; only RMA will know.

For me, personally, I was able to use the RAM at below spec, ie, 800Mhz; very stable, no problem. Thus, when Kaira recommended a RMA, I decided to go ahead as I had two problems and if changing the MB works, great, if not, then I will hve to RMA the RAMS. So, in short, the exchange solve my RAM issue. Now only the issue is the BSOD when I get `Fan not working' msg. It happens if I use the HWmonitor. Do not turn it on, NO bsod. So will feedback to Biostar on this. Hope they can trace source and fix it.
