Intel 980X First Look

Hello Fellas,

First up, thanks to Intel Singapore for the nice sample

It is one of the few we have locally. The retail 980X should be on sale here by tomorrow or within the week. Very few pieces i heard and should go for 1500++ to 1600+ SGD.

Anyway here's a sneak preview of my ES.

Intel has now moved to the tower heatsink design. Mind you same TDP of 130W as the 975 but newer better heatsink.

Compared to the Thermalright Venomous X in size

Please note the venomous X is mounted. The intel cooler is not. So it should be shorter than it looks.

And of course the "confidential" ES 980X

i would say this is a very interesting CPU as the multimedia benchmarks and game benchmarks show increases in performance across many apps. I will verify some of the benchmarks in time to come and will test it with real world apps run by my clients.

Of course, we're looking forward to new motherboards to run this on and break new records!

Stay tuned for some Gigabyte X58A UD7 (New flagship model from Gigabyte!) action and MSI 5870 Lightning overclocking. Also not forgetting memory from Gskill!
