First Look - MSI Big Bang Xpower!

Finally the 1366 brother of the well known Trinergy and Fuzion Big Bang MSI motherboards! The Big Bang Xpower!

Put out to compete with the Gigabyte X58A UD9 and the Rampage 3 Extreme, the first thing that came to my mind was the "normality" of the size of the motherboard. despite the fact that MSI managed to squeeze in 6 PCIe slots, put the same required dual 8pin cpu power pins and an additional 6 pin pcie pin for extra pcie power.

As i only have the X58A UD9 to compare at the moment, the UD9 comes with 7 pcie slots to boot, powered by dual 4pin molex connectors instead of one six pin. It has the dual 8pin power for cpu but the board comes in e-atx size.

The Xpower touts "server" grade cpu pwm circuitry and components. Soon i will be putting that up to the test against the UD9 to see if it can hold under normal air cooling with the 980X all cores and all threads enabled.

The board comes with OC dashboard, 4 different sli and xfire links, with an attachable thx soundcard with lots of goodies and pins where we can actually just stick a multimeter in to test the various voltages!

Until then, here are the first look pics!

haha thanks fellas. i do think the spare inductors are only for me or for the extreme overclockers and should not come in normal retail sets. not sure if MSI expect us to burn something but spare mosfets are always good!

Any idea on its local price and availability?

According to another review (refer to link below), the suggested US retail price is US$300. Based on the current USD-SGD conversion rate and adding GST, it should be below S$460.. very close to the recent locally released Asus P6X58D-E but way ahead in features.
