Hello all!!!

I'm starting this thread to learn more from the lao jiaos here as well as posting some of my own observations.
Feel free to share any interesting charts if any.
I'll try to comment with my limited TA exposure :s12:

Reminder, if you want me to comment on forex charts, please post them since I don't really trade forex myself.

Always remember

For a chart to breakout, there must be a catayst or insider leak
For a chart to breakdown, there is no need for any reason but fear and bad news

immediate support @ 43 cents, if able to stay above 43 cents for a period, it will trade within the trend lines

if 43 cents support break, next immediate support 36 cents and potentially forming a H&S if it bounces back up

forming a flag, breakout? up or down?

can u identify any catalyst?
1) this friday china GDP?
2) Expected earning? 28/02/2013
3) sgx announcement?

-nothing except for previous profit guidance for q3, which means there is a chance q4 will have improved earnings?
4) research report? ocbc say potential more deals?
*DJ Midas Holdings Target Raised To S$0.75 From S$0.50 By OSK-DMG - >9/1/2013
*DJ Midas Holdings Fair Value Raised To S$0.60 From S$0.50 By OCBC- >9/1/2013
OCBC Investment Research raised its target price for Midas Holdings Ltd MIDA.SI , which supplies components for railway projects, to S$0.60 from S$0.50 and kept its 'buy' rating, citing expectations of more high-speed rail contract wins.
As of 0243 GMT, Midas Holdings shares were up 3.2 percent at S$0.485, and have gained 14.3 percent since the start of the year, compared to a 1.8 percent rise in the FTSE ST All Share Index .FTFSTAS .
OCBC expects China's railway investments to form a large part of the country's overall infrastructure spending, and cited Xinhua news agency as saying about 600-650 billion yuan of railway investments will be made this year.
"We believe that China's Ministry of Railways could resume high-speed passenger train car contract tenders in the first quarter," said OCBC, which is expected to translate into order wins for Midas.

4) DJ MARKET TALK: Genting Singapore Earnings May Recover - CS --> 3/1/2013
0503 GMT [Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: Genting Singapore's (G13.SG) earnings could recover in 2013, Credit Suisse says. While the Western Zone's new attractions built up costs in 2012, those facilities' revenue contributions will become more meaningful in 1H13, the house says. It adds, GENS was also cautious on extending credit to VIP players amid concerns over bad-debt risk.

GENS also acquired a Jurong site to build a 500-room mass-market hotel, it says, noting hotel-room capacity has been a major constraint, with only 1,500 rooms on Sentosa vs competitor Marina Bay Sands' 2,600 rooms. "We continue to believe there is long-term growth in Singapore casino revenues and if global growth has bottomed, this suggests GENS' revenues could also rebound. We expect GENS to turn more confident in extending credit to VIP players if global macro concerns ease," it says. "GENS is the only direct play on gaming in Singapore. While growth rates are not as high as Macau, Singapore has the benefit of lower gaming tax rates and a duopoly market structure." It keeps an Outperform call with S$1.80 target. The stock is up 1.7% at S$1.47. (leslie.shaffer@dowjones.com)

4) DJ MARKET TALK: UBS Tips Genting Singapore As A Top 2013 Pick
0558 GMT [Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: UBS tips Genting Singapore (G13.SG) as its favorite of 2012's laggard stocks. "The major investment negatives in 2012 should turn more positive. VIP should benefit from demand growth recovery, especially out of China, whilst the receivables situation is now largely under control," it says. "While local mass demand may remain stagnant, the situation should not worsen further, and a return to high single digit organic growth is possible in 2014-15." It expects reinvestment risk to be less of an issue this year, with the company likely to wait on Japan's potential casino liberalization before considering other investments. GENS is one of the house's top picks for 2013, rating it Buy with S$1.63 target. The stock is up 4.3% at S$1.445 after falling 8.3% over 2012. (leslie.shaffer@dowjones.com)

So can we identify the potential catalysts needed for it to burst past the long term downtrend?
--> GENS also acquired a Jurong site to build a 500-room mass-market hotel
--> GENS to turn more confident in extending credit to VIP players if global macro concerns ease,

a drop to 1.34, followed by a bounce will potentially form a head&shoulder as highlighted by orange lines

it may or may not happen, but now lets look get the market depth for today

hi milo, is the way i analyse a chart too long?

someone asked about ASL marine, so probably i use this as an example.

these are just my thoughts and personal opinion, read base on the numbers indicated for the sequence in how i interpret and analyse a chart

ASL marine

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

conclusion: the only cataylst identified is earnings nia unless theres some insider news leak. next resistence is 76c, 4c more? got meat?

hoot or no hoot? please advice?

well analysed! for ASL Marine sinkie

oClZs.png

My Weekly shows me there's the weekly 200ma at 0.73 to overcome. After that, the next resistance is at 0.76c.. the high after the bonus share issue.

If you believe in the gap closing theory, there's a humongous gap.. (but I don't believe that gap is so easy to fill). Intermediate resistances at 0.805, 0.85 and finally 0.89c

I think some of us would know I took a position on Midas early Jan.

Charts and Market Perspectives from Milo-Dino: Interra & Midas

I entered at 45c and I just closed my position at 52c.

IS3RI.png

Daily midas we can see the inverted H/S on the long horizon. Neckline being 44c and target being 60c. (60c also happens to be the previous support turned resistance)

USMja.png

Weekly can see the bigger picture more clearly. You can see it cleared the weekly 100ma purple line too. Right now I don't like the candle for this week (assuming if friday closed like that as well). Signs of toppishness since it did rise very fast in a short time.

Montly chart shows a bullish divergence from long ago...

Anyway, the 60c target is not meant to be be assumed that it will hit very soon. It might take a month to climb up there (assuming nothing happens in the world economy). As a result, I chose to take profit at 52c even though there was a big buy up at 54c just the other day... However, I don't want to assume that the big boy will push to cover that cost because he could jolly well use the big transaction to suck more people in, thinking that there would be another push whilst he slowly offloads his holdings collected from under 44c..

immediate support @ 43 cents, if able to stay above 43 cents for a period, it will trade within the trend lines

if 43 cents support break, next immediate support 36 cents and potentially forming a H&S if it bounces back up
interesting charting... I never noticed it because i use candles

good insight~

Midas: News Release: Midas' Jv Company Nanjing Sr Puzhen Rail Transport Wins First 100% Low-Floor Tram Contract Valued At RMB338 Million

Will we see the flag breakout to meet my resistance? All eyes on dji tonight!

Will it be buy on rumors and sell on news?

Not vested but anyway what px did it close?. Didn't have the chance to check all closing price. Came out late from meeting.

Genting.. I vested at 1.47 so I might be biased.

Ideal buy zone is actually 1.42 to 1.44 right now with the neckline at 1.42. As long as it closes above this price, I tell myself to trust my TA and stick it through.

Weekly gives an interesting view where by there's a weekly 200ma support at 1.44. Quite frankly, I don't like the doji from last week. Thus I'll play by ear and see how it goes.
