Hi guys, will be building my first ITX home NAS.
Currently already bought these items.
Intel G3220
Asus H97i Plus (6 Sata 3 Ports)
1x4GB Crucial ram
CM 120 Advance Case
Superflower 600w gold (reused)
2x2TB WD Red
Quite a simple build. Will be using FreeNAS and booting up using flashdrive.
My needs are quite simple, extra back up to my HDD in my PC.
Work-related excel files, databases and personal media. Basically replicate files from my PC HDD to the NAS.
More like a home cloud?
My brother will be using a PC without HDD and therefore he needs to access those files via NAS.
Do I need do to RAID 1 or I just use it as 2 independent disk?
UFS or ZFS?
I heard the latest FreeNAS 9.2.2, UFS going to EOL.
If use ZFS, need to have 8 gb ram? or 4gb is enough for my needs?
Another similar build is similar, except that will be based on 1x2TB HDD first, more will be added later on.
