Hi All,

i also bought the 320L from Sitex and this is also my first using NAS. After about 1 week for trying and i still cant connect it.i'm using Singtel 2Wire 5012NV router.
I read the manual, its seem to be v simple to install and connect but i still cant.

i insert the harddisk then connect it to ethernet -Singtel 2Wire 5012NV router. Turn on the power and install sharecentre wizard from the CD given.

But when its come to select a device. I keep reflashing but no device is found.

Can anyone share me what went wrong?
I try turn on my firewall on my laptop and 2Wire 5012NV router but still cant find device. i try on my desktop also having the same problem.
Use the Storage Utility tool and see if it can detect the NAS. If you need to download this program, go to this site.

If still cannot, try connecting the NAS directing to your computer and set static address as 192.168.0.1 (NAS IP default to .32). If can ping then use web browser to access NAS UI.

bought mine from sitex @ $89. So far, I find the speed to be not-bad given the price of the NAS.

Here's my test result. (PC --> Router --> GB Switch --> 320L)

Not using any raid, using two 160GB HDD.

Setting up is not so straight forward but manageable. The sound from the fan of the NAS is a quite noticeable if you put it in your room, especially at night.

Other than that, @ $89 a pop, no complaints at all.

@mfbatzap, your test result is the fastest I have seen so far, what is the brand/model of router and switch you're using? And PC specs if you don't mind.

Have you try benchmarking with small files? Generally, this type of NAS (DNS-320 as well) fare badly when come to transferring a bunch of small files.

thanks for the advice i manage to connect it now.
But i notice my transfer speed is only 2mb/s.
i try difference file size still about 2mb/s.
I set to Standard volume. i connect to 2wire port 1-Gbit.
Does RAID-0 transfer fast than Standard volume?
what else can i do to increase the speed?

Glad you resolve the connection issue.

Best to do a benchmark on the NAS to determine the actual cause of bottleneck (suspect is the 2wire router). Do made sure that there are no network activity before doing the test to ensure a clean result.

With the high HD failure rate nowadays, I wouldn't advice going for RAID-0, the performance increase is not that great anyway.

Thanks for starting this thread.

I bought mine at SITEX too, also my first NAS. Fiddling with it for a few weeks, quite interesting. The biggest problem I have is to stream media from it to my Samsung SmartTV. I have a UA40ES5500 connected via wifi. I can surf internet and stream media from my PC darddisk using AllShare Play. In fact, I can see my NAS drive, but when I go into the Videos folder, it is empty. I have videos on my NAS, but it doesn't get displayed. Do I have to put my media files in a particular folder in the NAS? Any ideas?

DNS320L SSL remote webUI access

Wonder anyone try the remote webUI access via SSL? I have no problem with normal remote access. When I start to use the SSL way to login, the browser seems to do some loading via https but the page remains blank.

If I use the same method (SSL) to access the webUI within home network, the page can be loaded with https.
